She wants to know today how much I'm spending on car parts for my project...I told her I got everything so far for free.

She calls BS, so I lay it out for her...

    First I bought an A sedan...sold it for a $1200 profit

Then bought another vehicle...sold it and made a $200 profit

Bought some cool parts cheap...sold 'em for a $500 profit

Then bought a '32 complete cab with ***le and a set of nice seats for it...$1900 total outlay

I says "Do the math, I got them for free"

She says "And how many thousands of dollars did you lose when you sold the coupe?"

    ...****in' women...

That video is some great s#&t, sent it to a bunch of people to help explain hot rod finances.

  16. She should not ask as long as everything else is taken care of and there are no bill collectors at the door AND you are putting ten percent away every week for savings. JMHO, Bob

I'm not married but I get scared when I tally my numbers. Somedays I think my cars are like boats. A hole in the water you throw money down.

That part is "earned income," from your part time huckstering job.
You could pile it up with the dollars you get from your day job and it'd all still just be "earned income," each dollar indistinguishable from another.

Nope, you spent $1900 out of the "earned income" pool.
You could have paid the mortgage and bought the kids or wifey a new pair of shoes with it, but no, you had to go and blow it on a rusty old pile of over-priced junk, again.

you keep a separate bank account for your projects - both buy & sell - your wife never sees the bank statement at the end of the month - bingo!

never try to explain economics to wimmins. if they buy some purse for $150.00 that was $500.00 originally they think they just made $350.00 and go spend the $350.00 on shoes.

funny when my wife shops I ask "whats the damage?"

she lays it out like this:

well the "outfit" was originally $200 and it was maked down 1/2 price and i had an extra discount for 10% off - then i returned a pair of shoes for $30 and had a gift card for 50 etc etc--

blah blah blah i actually saved you money

in other words $10 for a $5 outfit - is still a ripoff (actually amount may vary)

gotta tune them out......call in the next ten minutes and we'll double your offer......but wait there's more.........
