Customs The Pearl Necklace Finally Gets Some Paint!!!!!

We've been putting in some long, long, long days and nights on the car to hit our deadlines. So far we haven't missed one. Mainly in thanks to us working til 5am on New Years Day, and Mark (Chopolds) taking some time to give us a hand blocking.

The car is 90% ready for paint as of tonight and we got some color on the roof as well. The roof is the same color as the scallops and trim insert will be, a kustom pearl mix I named doublemint pearl white.

Here's a few to wet your ape***e. It's not cleared yet and won't be til next weekend, but you get the idea. I can't wait to roll it into the sun!

I forgot to mention that we are shooting to paint the body this Sat. This was the deadline we set for ourselves in order to make Detroit at the end of Feb. So far it looks like we'll make it. I'll post some more this wknd when its hopefully all done!

Thanks for the compliments guys! This project really "snowballed"..haha. Seriously though, once the windshield came out I knew it was on. The car is coming out way nicer than I ever intended thanks to a lot of hard work from Billy, Russ and Mark. This has been an awesome collaborative effort and I hope to repay these guys soon.

 

doctorZ, the giant tips were put on years ago when I was young and had plans for flamethrowers that I never put on. Then I had a continental kit on there (which may make a return appearance), so the tips were the perfect length. Now they're coming off and getting replaced by a much cleaner set of straight cut echo cans, and will terminate at the proper length.

 

That's a sweet color. Can't wait to see the rest.

Any updates

 

Heading to the shop now to give the car a thorough cleaning and retaping. Tomorrow will be the big day. Gonna start early and probably go late. We've been figuring between 18-22 coats of sealer, base, intercoat, pearl and clear, so it's gonna take a while

WOW...that looks awesome, it does look like a different car!!

Yesterday is done already, so get your lazy ***es out of bed and get some update pics up here for us...please!

 

Wow, well, yesterday turned into today. We didn't actually leave the shop until about 7 am this morning. Billy, Russ and myself all turned in a 20 hour work day and got it in paint. Major props to Billy's dad who came down and helped tape out some sick scallops and supercharge the masking process. I can't thank these guys enough for all the help they've given me with this car. We have a long way to go but we've crossed a major hurdle.

We all slept in pretty late today, so I'm sure Billy will post up some progress pics shortly.

 

Can't wait to see it done.

 

That pretty much sums it up.

I had to call in reinoforcements once I realized we had no shot of finishing it in the same night with all the scallops we planned on laying out. My Dad is a sign painter and has a really steady hand and a good eye, so with guidance from Joe and I on the layout, he helped us speed through the rest of the layout.

The pictures really do not do the colors justice. Hopefully well get it out in the sun sometime this week and take some better shots. Though the teal looks very dark green, the green metallic underneath really shines through and the pearls pop really well.
