i got to talk to the snake at the cali. hrr. this past oct. and he had his funny car and recreated hauler there on display. beautiful restoration . i know hes calling it quits, but dam hes selling this at barrett jackson ! dam if i could just win the lottery!
I didnt know he was selling, and for some reason im kind of suprised. for what its worth, the car hauler is not a recreation. He found HIS original hauler, that if im not mistaken was originaly Richard Petty's. In the interview he did with Jay Lenno, he talks about re-aquiring it.
not sure if it was Richard Petty's i was told the snakes hauler use to belong to Sox and Martin, any one know for sure.
I just read an article about the "Hot Wheels Hauler" in the Winter 2009 edition of ROD & KULTURE magazine. The article states that the hauler was previously owned by Richard Petty; that Prudhomme...."had purchased for $2600 back in 1969." Great article with original and current pictures!
I don't know...I can't find it on the list of items for sale... http://www.barrett-jackson.com/ I would think that everyone would know about this if it was going to happen. BJ, like R&M, really promotes their specialty vehicles heavily for months in advance....
Don called the shop last year asking for my father..............He just said "This is Don looking for Steve" "Such Modesty!!!"............its been a long day at the shop and I say "He is kind of busy what can I help you with?" and Don says "I have a question on an old Dodge truck" I get my father on the phone and right away I find that this is not no ordinary Don with a Dodge truck question Dad had a blast talking with Don and I learned to always get the last name before handing the phone to Dad HOTRODRUBBER Hurst Racing Tires
I just read the article in R&K and have to say the hauler (and the Barracuda of course) would look very nice sitting in my driveway. But, at some level its even cooler knowing Don still owns it. Pardon my stupidity here, but what ever happened to Tom McEwen?
