Customs 53 lincoln windshield exchange

Anybody know if windshields of other fords will fit a 53 lincoln? i am also wonder if i can get a rear window out of safety gl***? i plan to chop that thing , but not before i know if i can get a other windshield/rearwindow in case i mess my one up.

 

I have a 53 Lincoln sedan rear gl*** but I,m in Northern Ontario.

 

I dont think it will swap out. The Lincoln and the Merc( I think) used the same gl***. I did send you a pm though with some info.

 

I have been wondering about the same thing myself!

I really like driving my 55 EVERYDAY, but the unavailability of front and rear gl*** kind of bugs me....

I was hopeing that Merc gl*** is available and it would fit...

 

39 All Ford..It is available. I will have to post the guys name and number when I get home. He can get brand new ones and can cut them really cheap.

 

I have a 51,53 and 55 Merc sedan back gl*** as well as the 53 lincoln sedan back gl***.52 Ford sedan also.Too bad I,m so far north though....

 

That is way cool, takes a lot of pressure of me when I drive the 55..

I I looked at the website of Alliance Vendor Bob's Cl***ic Auto Gl***, and noticed that there is lots of mid 50s Ford and Merc gl*** listed, but none of the stuff listed for Ford or Merc is ALSO listed for Lincoln... so once again I am a little concerned that my Lincon is relegated to a dwindling supply of used gl***...

I think it was stated that Merc gl*** will work in a Lincoln, but I am not sure.

Does anyone know for sure?

52-54 Ford and Merc cross. 52-55 lincolns are alone with three different windshields for sedans and hardtops, I check tomorrow on which ones are available.

Ouch...

In 1955 there were about 22,000 Lincolns made, about half of these were Capris... So I don't suppose the chance of repop front and rear gl*** is so good...

 

all 52- 55 lincoln 2 doors and conv. take a NAGS part number DW247 windshields
four doors use DW246

52's had 3 piece back gl***, 53-55 shared a one piece back gl***

 

I have chopped the top on my 55 and there is no interchange in winshields.Old gl*** is hard to cut because it gets real brittle,I ended upbuying a brand new one that i ordered from a guy in Cali and it actually had come from Mexico.Lucky the original one worked when it was cut so yes i have abrand new one just in case up in my attic.I have about 600bux in this thing by the time i got it home.checkout my avatar that is my lincoln just about done and ready to hit the happy trail
