This one was built in Spokane,WA and was sold at Barrett-Jackson for $550,000.00 . Not your usual non billet budget build.

The only Dodge Airflows were the tankers! More or less a custom job not standard production.
The body style was not offered in standard pickup versions or p***enger car versions in the Dodge line.
They were available into the late 30s but are really stinking rare!

Unlike Chrysler and Desoto p***enger cars were they were an entire series!

  4. Air & Space Museum has (Had) one.
Well, It was in their mag a few years back at any rate.
    Airport fuel truck.
I would love to get my hands on one.
Currently I settle for the Texaco bank on my desk.

glad I wasn't the only one thinking along these lines!

airflows are good, but vw's are bad???

the vw's started development around the same time as the airflow's didn't they??

Umm, I always remember being told that the first super secret prototypes of the VW were made in late '38, but I have no written reference for that.

development of the vw started in 32, hitler threw in his two cents by 34 and the first three prototypes were built by 36.

I've got an old 120mph SW speedo from I think was a '36 Airflow that I will use in my coupe someday. Wish I could post a pic but it is very cool considering the era...

The 1934 Imperial Custom Airflow CW Series was the first production vehicle to use a curved gl*** windshield. If anybody cares.

I bought this 35 Desoto coupe on the HAMB few months back from NITRO-FLATTIE1 in Northern Ca. Great guy ! Anybody deals with him will not be let down . I think they are pretty neat ! I like the Desoto grilles way better , they were also the shortest and best proportioned of the 3 coupe sizes avail. Chrysler had 2 bigger sizes , not as cool looking at all . Desotos kick *** !!

These cars were considered fugly! If you can find one of these Fugly things you better buy it . They are getting so rare that it is driving the price up! It was way ahead of its time and was not accepted at all. There have been other examples of cars ahead of their time that were not accepted that are rare and expensive now. Look at tucker and there for a while the zephyr. (zepher caught on for a couple of years then fell like a rock.)

Turn me on to all those 37/38/39 Zephyr 3 windows and convertibles you don't want , that fell like a rock because the fad is over . I'm buying now that they are cheap . Thanks

You're thinking of the French Citroen 2CV, deux Cheveau(2 HP), like Richard Dreyfus drove in American Grafitti.

I find it hard to believe no one has posted a picture of the Dozier & Hagerity DeSoto Airflow. Bonneville record setting Chrysler flathead straight eight blown.

Jim Hines @ Vintage Auto yard in Mtn. Home Idaho use to have one dead smack in the front of the yard. He'd sell what's left if someone wanted it.

Who was the fool that destroyed a perfectly good Airflow to build THIS abortion?

That is the only good looking one IMO. Some guy on the AACA site is trolling for a buyer of a 4 door in the LA area as I type this. :)

THAT is the one that comes to mind when someone mentions Airflow! There is another that turns up at Hershey every year, looks like factory paind and I'm guessing is is warmed over.
