I saw how amazing the art that came out of Gamblers request for help with his clubs plaque were so I figured I'd send out the same request!

We are the Bishops C.C. Out of Western Washington. We're a traditional pre-1964 hot rod and custom club.

So far the club has a design that we've been using for the website and business cards and we all seem to want to do something with a Day of the Dead style to it. I'll attach the picture of the business card and the Woodcut we want to incorporate in somehow.

We want to stick with a DOTD style or at least some tongue in cheek religious imagery.

I had a plaque drawn up with two bishop chess pieces on either side but the other guys in the club didn't want to drive around with ****s on the back of their cars.

I forgot to add we're also thinking about doing drag plates that look real similar to our back patches which I'll put a picture up of later on.

    Thanks in advance!

    @Slim: That is awesome! thanks.
@ A23: True. I'd forgotten about tech week.
@S****e: I'd love to be able to. I just am fresh out of things to offer. I would happily send the artist that we go with one of the plates for free once they get done.

    How's this?

Lots of tidy up work left but you get the idea... I hope it's in the right direction, if not please say so (the sooner, the better).

I did try with a font that looked like your original but it didn't leave enough space for the hat so I tried a few others and this is the one that matched the skull and hat best...

It's also my 1st attempt at a "candy" (ish) skull so please be patient until i get into the details.

I like it a lot, reads well, would cast well. Maybe there's a way to make the bishop hat read better.

@Nash: That is awesome. I'll take a picture to the meeting this weekend and show the boys. Thank you so much.
@Vorhese: It would cast well your right and it fits the style I like. The hat could look a little less like a high-top fade though.

If it could look a little more Day of the dead inspired that'd be awesome. That really is my only complaint on this one. I like that you kept in mind that it has to be cast.

Jack: Got your message after I did this one... actually there's another version in between those that I tried to get the hat to show better but it messed up the font. :( Solution: try another font and hat...

Anyway, I'll take the wrench out next time, just need to know if the new hat is OK and also if you guys like the new type-font. Please keep in mind it's still very distorted. If you gimme the green light, I'll tweak it all good and pretty.

Thanks Slim! :) Final version (maybe...)

I tweaked the ***le letters, the hat and ended up replacing the city font with the one from the last version. That Von Dutch font is a mess and would have taken me 3 to 4 hours just to straighten it out... Would have been a bit faster to do it from scratch. Whoever did it doesn't really know how to draw with vectors.

EDIT: catched a few tiny flaws, should be all good now

Thanks Fred, I wished I was there (BBQ) !! :D

  29. 37 - fantastic artwork bro - Like Fred said, we had a bunch of pictures at the BBQ we just had, and we all agreed on a mashup of sorts (tall hat, that font, no wrench). To find it posted here tonight is amazing! You must have heard us talking!! Ahh... the power of ribs and Rainier beer - truly the creative nectar of the gods!
