MAYBE s10 v8 conversion headers, but I don't know for sure. Fenderwell 55-57 headers may be a better idea.

because of the wacky steering on these there is no way a full header where the collectors are under the car will work. there might be some sort of rear dump "shorty" header that would work, but then you get into problems with the underfloor brake pedal hitting the header when the pedal is pushed.

if you changed over to a firewall mount master cylinder this would cure that problem.

    fenderwell headers are another option.

I had Sandersons on my old 49 sedan. it's a tight fit around the oil filter, and you'll need an exhaust guy who strives to do a quality job if you want to keep it all tucked above the frame. not every exhaust guy could or would do it right.

I use Hedman 68600 Camaro header, I used with the stock suspension and now with the MustangII no issues and fits like a glove!

actually my buddy also has a 52 and he has block huggers and has the stock suspension , so hugger headers will work with stock suspension depending on your motor mounts.

I'm using Mid 80's Chevy pickup manifolds. I couldn't use block huggers as they got in the way of my crossmember.

yeah the only way maybe if the motor was pushed back alot or really far forward huggers might work but to me wouldnt look good.

  15. Your mid-80s truck manifolds, does the left dump between the middle and rear ports and aim more or less straight down, or do they both dump at the rear at roughly a 45' angle? After a ton of research as close as I can tell there's two basic types but there's no real rhyme or reason what truck you'll find them on.

On my -53 I used Hedman headers. They make (or made) a model with a flat collector. Don't remember the part #,but I guess you'll find them somewhere.
I also tried block-huggers,but they had no chance on the steering-side.
Do a search on Hedman.-I really recommend them.

I couldn't use the huggers as I have Jaguar IFS which is rear stear and they came into contact at the ujoint connection to the power rack. The drivers side on the truck manifold is a rear dump at 45 degrees and the p***enger is center dump at 45 degrees.

This was very useful info. I have Flowtech long tubes on a 50 coupe with Mustang II front suspension. Car is low and they drag. Not fun. I tried the 68600’s. The clutch bell crank fit perfect between 2nd and 3rd tube just like my long tubes but the collector totally blocked the clutch throw out arm.
Ordered the 68640’s. It looks like they will work perfect.
I don’t like that they look very different left from right but it’s necessary to clear the clutch linkage.
With auto transmission the 68600 are definitely the way to go.
