I have a few flathead cylinder heads lying around, and wanted to display one in the house as an "Ode to Hotrods" I call it "Tired" I'll spare you the jig making process that put the proper angle on the head to get it to sit how I wanted to display it. Here's what I started with; the head perfectly in place, and the round bar waiting to become art. I sanded down the round bar so that it would fit in one of the head stud holes. I purposely made it a little loose to account for the possibility of chrome. Put a 90 deg bend in it, then set the jig on another jig that I made to drop tie-rods. I repurposed the tie rod jig by welding a cut off piece of old ford driveshaft to it so that I could get a nice radius on my bends. (a lot going on in this photo) A little help from my friends Oxy & Acetylene: here's a shot of the 2nd bend...there were two more, not pictured From my backside At home in the living room, where we spend a ton of time. There you have it..."Tired" by MattStrube Thinking about making them out of stainless, or making some more to get chromed and sell. What ya think?
Great Idea!!! I have a few laying around myself....got me thinking of the possibilities of Flathead art & fixtures for the house! Thanks!
