I have a 1960 falcon with stock everything. Sorry for the newb question.

What do I need to do to run aftermarket gauges in my falcon. These are the gauges that I am getting:

I probably should have done more research before I pulled the trigger but now I am trying to sort it out.

    thanks

Checke your link to the Summit webpage. Those gages are model-specific, aren't they? Didn't they come with everything necessary? If not, I would contact Summit to see what they have for you. Good luck with your Falcon.

That kit looks like a normal gauge kit. All you will have to do is see if the temperature gauge has a sending unit and you have a place to put it in. The voltmeter will just need a bit of wire to hook up. The kit comes with a speedo cable so that should be easy.

Then you have to figure out where you are going to put them. Not a hard job just some decisions on where you want them.

That kit is a universal kit. You will need the speedometer sender.
Sorry for the shameless plug, but you could go with something like this with a more period look:

It really depends on what the theme is. The VDO gauges work OK, they just don't have a true period look. It looks like their designer didn't actually look at any old gauges when designing them.

My main concern was the fuel guage working with the stock sending unit, anyone know if it will?

VDO gauges typically come with a 10-180 ohm fuel gauge, and the Ford is a 73-10 ohm fuel level sending unit. I don't know if that kit comes with a 10-180 ohm fuel sensor.

  7. talk to summit about adapting the sending unit. I had to go thru that once, they were a big help.
