If there is anyone out there with any information on hot rodding a 1947 desoto coupe. I want to lower it and just the basic stuff disc brakes. I don't know which route to take to keep the original frame or sub frame with fat man sub frame or the rear end. I will post pictures soon. Doon't know much about fat fender cars just rat rod model A's. Any information from anybody would be great. Thanks again.

It's pretty much the same as a number of other "how to hot rod 41-54 mopar" threads. OEM IFS is good, disc brakes, relocated the upper shock mounts, about it.

My 48 dodge is very similar to your DeSoto. Stock suspension is good and rebuild parts are available. Disc brakes and Cavalier rack and pinion steering are easy mods.

    I have '48 DeSoto, 4 door.
It has '72 Nova front clip (disc brakes), Plymouth Fury rear, 727TF ****** with 392 Hemi, ps,pb, set up for a/c but due to short funds, may be a while. Running gear was already there, except engine, when I bought the car about 9 years ago.
