vin number info

On a 1947 dodge truck Was the serial number tag the vin or was thier a vin tag to. All i have is serial num. plate.

There is no 'vin' tag on anything prior to late 60's. On old cars/trucks different states use different numbers, some use the serial number (on your door frame) some use engine numbers. What does the MO dmv use/want? Afterall, that is who makes the rules that you have to live with.

At this point and time, most states use the serial number. If you don't have a ***le, I'd take care of this before investing in something that doesn't have paperwork.
