Found a nice complete 1953 Chevy 1/2 ton truck today. It is a South Dalota truck (3 windows) with a real decent body, just has a few splits in the rear fenders. All stock, faded green paint, stock 216 6-cylinder with 3 speed, runs and drives, clean interior all stock, even has the stock head liner in it yet, 6 lug wheels, nice chrome grill, noit dented up , solid door, stock bed, gret hood, no broken gl***. The guy is asking $2000. Seemed a bit high to me but I have never bought one of these trucks before. I know they are very popular right now, especially with the younger crowd. The present owner "seemed" pretty firm on the price, but cash may persuade him doen a little.
I need advice on the price from those of you who actually have a truck like this or have bought one in the past. I may try to go back and get a picture or two.

Based on the description you posted the truck seems to be very complete and original. If the truck runs I think it is a very reasonable price.

You left out two of the most important criteria from my standpoint. Does it have a clear ***le that matches the serial number in the cab. Deduct hundreds if it does not.

Rust.... Check the cowls, floor and rear corners for rust.

If it has good paper and no rust it sounds like a good deal at $2000. Otherwise I'd want to look harder before making a call.

I sold one for 2 grand with a ****ty paint job over bad bodywork. the motor ran and the electrical was good, but it had a dead cylinder and no brakes.

I actually think I sold it cheap. it went to the first guy who came to look at it. guy made me an offer and I told him nope, if you don't buy it for $2000.00 the next guy to come by will.

$2000 sounds like a good deal to me. Of course, im up here in new england and if you find something thats not a rusty piece of sh*t for under $3000 then its a great deal.

$2000 sounds good the way you've described the truck. Of course, as stated above, be sure it has a good clear ***le that matches the truck VIN.
