Panhead progress.... Bitchin'!!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 'Flyin' Dutchman', Dec 4, 2004.

  1. My buddy mocked it up once more...

He made some bars, made some duo ribs in the fender, made the tank sit Frisco... He's also doin' a lotta work on the frame to get it smooth again. Got a couple L Series carbs in Florida during his holiday.
Rear wheel is just a mock up wheel... It's the frontwheel off of his Shovel..
I'm sure it's gonna rule over every other bike in our little country overhere..

I'm back into the garage... Gotta make some more progress on the Trump! [IMG]

I have a set of jets around for that L series. The bike is looking killer. Dig the bars and the raised ribs in the sheetmetal. Nice touch.

Love that rear fender. How did he go about putting those ribs in it? Bead roller? Would love a pic of the bottom of the fender off the bike. Is that a stock tank with the front opening filled so it could be raised up to sit on top of the spine.(Frisco Style? I'm trying to learn here, I catching the bike bug bad)

[/ QUOTE ] Original Wishbone frame? Please leave the sidecar mount's in place. Pan's are beautiful. Have to be rare in your part of the globe. What color will it be? If in CA, next time look up HAMB'r heyitsnate for some ink.

They did the ribs with a bead roller... I have to ask how they faded 'em at the ends.. He did it together with one of our friends who's a very experienced car/bodywork guy.

The tank is actually off an old European "Puch" moped.. If I remember right, the two ribs were in there already and he wanted to match the rear fender.
He filled the tunnel to mount is Frisco..

Is that a Puch tank? I've got a tank off of a Sears Allstate (made by Puch) that's the exact same size and shape...even has the same size gas cap and cap placement, but it doesn't have ribs like that.

I think it looks really good...is he going to be able to keep it that low in front? Suspension travel looks pretty minimal at best. [IMG]

The frame's a '56 or '57 Panhead frame, not sure, I forgot what the number said..
The sidecar mounts were gone... He ordered new ones and put 'em back on.
It's gonna be green flaked.. Very light flakes... Like the Rat Fink cruiser bike you see in the pics.
He might go with black rims.. Not sure on that one though.

He might get my old HD Sporty narrow glides... Maybe he can lower those a bit more... it's kinda difficult to get the right ride height and have some travel left.

    Hey "Dutchman",
cool Pan and good job! Similar to Indian Larry's "Grease Monkey". That's a short forker for sure.Green flake and black rims do sound good.
That's an advantage we Europeans have over Americans. There are many cool gas tanks available from all those small Mofas,Mopeds etc.
A friend is building a rigid Shovel and he uses an modified NSU tank.
Can't wait to see more progress pics.
    P.S.What about your Trump ?

maybe you got one of those L series carbs for sale ?

  27. Sorry man.. Not for sale. Way too hard to get overhere.

We might go to Florida in March and we know where to get 'em over there. My buddy knows some old guy there who has tons of rare parts.
