Great car! Those steel slot wheels were actually used on cars.
Around here they were on every boat trailer you'd see for at least 2 decades.

Wow, man I am flattered. Seriously, I guess I am a little more simple minded, I think of it as a real hot rod owned by a real hot rodder.

I doubt it. Those wheels are really hard to find because they rust so bad. You might be thinking of alluminum slots.

    HELL YA!

Chris, ill get the video to you in exchange for letting me run it at Mo-Kan? Haha

wow ..what a great response on the video and car ,Chris ..

i would say the tail lights are for a dune buggy .. their for sure ( SAE marked ) after market ..and they bolt right on ...what ever ...great choice .they look killer .

  9. I love this car, my favorite era, late 50s-early 60s. Glad to see you are enjoying it Chris. My favorite wheels as well, chrome slots! What he says of the Houston area is true; I remember they were the red headed stepchild of custom wheels when I was a kid, but I always loved them. I have many aluminum slots, but only a few rusty chrome slots; I want to re-pop them.

  10. looks great chris!! congrats!

Just saw this and its good to see someone taking good care of the ****roach. My Dad was buddies with Cooper back when my Dad was part of the old car club and up until Jim p***ed away. I asked my Dad about the car and he said Jim Cooper had some help from Ed Leopold (who is an AMAZING car builder) who helped Jim a little bit with the build. Luckily Lil and big Nick picked up his cars and took good care of them. Very cool history! Chris congrats on the car and like I said, glad to see its being well taken care of! I'm sure Jim is smiling down on you all for bringing the car back to the way it was when he built it. Very cool! I sent this to all the guys that my Dad knows and who used to be in the club with Cooper. I'm sure they will all love to see it. Great job on the video!

LilDeuc, I was surprised to see this old thread come up, but I am glad you added some insight. I understand Leopold did the candy paint job on the car, do you know if he is still around?

I actually haven't been on here in quite a while (been out of the game for a few years since my son was born but getting back into it now) and found this thread.
Yeah Leopold is still around and he's still got alot of nice cars. Dad said we can get you his number if you're interested or if you would like more information from him.
My Dad sent the link of the video to all Coopers old buddies from the car club. I'm sure they're gonna love to see it.
