Agreed.....There are plenty of forums for those.....

HOT ROD'S BUILT AROUND THE GENUINE VOLKSROD CONCEPT ONLY , PLEASE ....

Heres another one I did.....used the entire Beetle this time , unmodded chassis with beam extender and cut about stock front axle....ends up 105'' with my extender.....near enough !

The fibreglass 'chassis' rails moulded from some new ASC rails really help hide everything as well as a split 'bone attached to the front purely for cosmetics....draws your eye from the not so pretty front end. ( If AK Miller can use I.F.S. in the 40's , I don't feel too bad about a Torsion bar axle !! )

Had to stretch the back of the body a little and tuck away the sticky out engine parts ....( Citroen 2CV alternator behind rolled pan and electric fan in front of fan shroud with the reversed manifold and carb. )

I know I'm not the only fool playing with this concept ......lets see some other RELEVANT examples ....oh , and more Fuller/Brizio style examples ....please !!

man lancelot!! that is so bitchen!!! i just love the way the vw parts are hidden. also, why the torsion front end? why not a dropped axle? i like vw's but, sometimes to make a cool rod, you have to hide some of it.
i am in the process of getting parts to build a '27 t turtle deck type rod.
it's going to have a race wing over the motor to hide it.
this is the body i am using.

I AGREE.......I built the first one with a dropped beam , second time around I wanted to 'cheapen' the build by using all VW bits.....dropped axles can be pricey here in the U.K.
Removing the 'fugly' shock towers and fitting short shocks really helped clean her up a lot. The tall 16'' 37 Ford wheels and low , large headlights helped hide the rest....
Neither concept has really been embraced by the crowd over here....It's a middle ground car . Hot Rodders hate VW's ( generally , not all of us... ) and the VW crowd stick to VW's as a rule.....It's an idea thats been stewing in my head for years and needed excorsizing !!
I'm glad I did it and I'm just about to embark on building another Roadster Pickup on a Beetle pan.......same principle but slightly different !!
