I think that I'm overthinking this. If I pull the Iac, whichever port I need should allow air to the IAC, correct?

from memory i think it just byp***ed the throttle plates internally in the casting..unscrew the iac and use a bread tie or zip tie to snake thru the casting..if you leave the iac it in you will have to close it or make sure its closed or youll have idle problems and i forgot how to at the moment ill have to look thru some ol tpi stuff..ill be back

sorry the iac is for the intake air temp i was thinking for the idle control..haha im retarded sometimes, leave it or just use a pipe plug to plug it .it just measure the air temp in the in the upper housing for computer calculations..no biggie..the rest of the ports are straight forward tho the left side of the upper housing center is the pcv port might be the only one you use..if used

Gunny, I'm pretty sure the IAC is not for intake air temp, but I could be wrong. Here is what I have found on it:

The IAC is a device controlled by the ecm to adjust the idle speed. There is a air bleed to the throttle body and the pintle in IAC acts as a restriction, thus a controlled vacuum leak. The ecm controls the position of the IAC based on start up, warm up, and closed loop operation as well as when ever loads are imposed on the engine such as a/c. Working properly, it is extremely effective in cold weather drivability.

So, the question remains-Which ports do I need, and where would I hook them up to?

If you call Larry he will probably tell you to leave the IAC in place, as you will need it, and hook part of his 4 wire loom to it. It will electricaly open and close the port va***e that it is screwed into. I would plug everything else except E for the PCV as said before...............
IT IS AN INTERNAL PORT NOT AN EXTERNAL PORT!

I have more pics and info, in my build thread( see signature). I'll be posting more as things progress.

Gmc Bubba will be posting his work there today, on the Nash twin dizzy to HEI conversion!

sorry your right it controls the idle..its been awhile since i messed with any injected stuff i got the idle and the intake temp sensor mixed up..im pretty sure it just byp***es the throttle plates in the casting tho if that is the right part were talking about..also we used to just put metal window screen on for an air filter for the map sensor style sytem the m*** air flow one you have to use an intake boot of some sort..

Just curious, are you converting it to EFI?

I wouldn't permanently plug or saw off any of those ports until I got it running well. You can always make it work and then take it off and make it pretty.

    Okay,

    Then you need the IAC.

You don't need the coolant p***ages, it's common in the 3rdgen F-body crowd to byp*** it.

By memory, the otherports are for the cannister purge---you most likely delete this in the PROM....all other's mostlikely can be plugged too...

If you need me too, I can pop the hood on my '89 IROC and give more details.

I'm going to do something similar on an OT 289 enine...i/e run the GM EFI, just cause the Ford EFI is soooo ugly.

I found a Jeep IAC that can be mounted remotely, so I may just forget the throttle body.
Wadaya think, Quad side draft Webers??!!
