:D Well I have to go to a school tomorrow and give a little presentation about Hot Rods to some youngsters. So I decided to do a little drawing of my 39 for them and printed off a few copies for them to color. :D

I had my children make the choice and the y chose the one with the Sun

Well today was a fun day with the children over at the local Family Enrichment school. I had left my house at 8:30 am in the 20 degree air and got over to the school parking lot i order to to setup for the 9:00 cl*** I brought a little display of Hot Rod books and even a piston and rod so they could see what one looks like. I also brought over the pedal car stroller my son and I are building for my daughter even though it is not completely done. The children loved it and were asking waht coplor we plan to paint it and so on. The childrren in these cl***es were 4-5 yrs of age and were full of questions. I basically had prepaired myself for an older age group but it was fun non the less. I had allowed them to get in the car and honk the horn they just loved it. I wish I could post pics of the kids with the car but I did not take any due to the privacy policies and all. I am awaiting for the teachers over at the school to give me the okay and then I will post the pics with the children and the car. Meanwhile I took a shot of it at the school as soon as I parked it.

That's cool, good for you. I'm sure the kids'll remember that for a long time.
Just a couple of weeks ago, a Cleveland area Drag Racer died, and the first thing I thought of when I saw the obituary was when he brought his '32 3 window drag car to my elementary school when I was in first grade... 35 years or so ago.

Good for you. You might have influenced some new hot rodders on down the road. I did the same thing years ago for my son's 3rd or 4th grade cl*** (my son is now 40).
I let the kids get in, blow the horn and explore my 41 Chrysler sedan, they were infatuated with the rear suicide doors. I still have all the thank you letters they all wrote to me after the presentation.

I want to say Thank you to everbodywho posted. I promise I will post the pics of the kids when and if I recioeved them they were to much fun. My friend told me that night when her daughter got home from school all she talked about was this real cool car that came to their school. I was happy to hear that. I love the fact that these cars can have such an effect that they do on people especially the children because we all know they are the future.

Never know what simple act can have an influence. I talk to a lot of school groups in my job (fireman) and always hope to at least hit the mark with one kid.

Pete that is so right. I can still remember all of the cars that impacted me the most and many of the owners of those particular cars were very easy going and kid friendly. I was ableto sit in their car and ask questions about this or that and they always took the time to tell me. I always thought to myself if I ever had one of these cars I would let the kids do the same thing I am getting to do right now. So now that I am able to have one of these cars I try to stay true top my word. Some times I have to catch some **** from other car guys because they tell me that I am encouraging the kids to touch the cars and well being mine is only in the primer stage I don't have to worry like they do. I just tell them that I want the kids to enjoy the cars so I will alllow them to step up on the running board and have a look in the car. Many of the kids and their parents are socked and actually be extra careful when stepping on the running boards. And ater they do that they usually come over and start thanking me and asking questions about the car. To me this is what it is about. To be able to enjoy a car and let others enjoy them as well. The thing is we usually will always have one or more of these cars because of our dedication to them but for others the only time they are able to enjoy them are when we dispaly them or take them out for that daily cruise.

That is so awesome. You just might have sparked the fire in a future hot rodder.
