i think the problem with the 94's not fitting is the spacing between the carb mounts, 97's are a little more petite and some manifolds were designed for 97's so 94's will hit each other.

just use block off plates for the ends carbs and run the middle one, that would work till you find a few 97's.

    neat car, have fun

This genre of hotrod was known as "Specials". There are several one-shot magazines dedicated to "Specials" that were printed in the 50s-very early 60s.

That car is fairly crude but is a good example of the bulk of the "Specials" genre. I like it alot.

yeah, it must be the spacing cause the bolt holes are exactly the same. Thanks for your help all. next step is to get a cheap 94, rebuild if necessary, pick up a radiator and get this thing running.

thats really cool. I hope its gonna be brought back to life as is, meaning, not changing it into something else. Paint and finish would be cool.

I would check into changing those front wishbones or the tie rod end extensions at least, the bends they put in both sides would scare me a little. Hang onto those front fenders, there is enough there the cycle guys will eat them up for Brit choppers. If you need any flathead parts let me know I may have some spare stuff laying around. I dont have any 97's though! It looks like it could be a neat little roadster when you get it done. OH, btw I think I have a set of useable rear wide 5 drums if you need them. PM me if you need anything and I will try to help. -Drew

Yeah, I plan on keeping it as is, the only change I plan on making is to get all matching brakes and wheels, other than that, I just wanna bring it back to life and get it looking nice and clean. I'm even kicking around some color choices, too soon I know, but It gives me a nice mental picture of how I want it to look when its done. haha

Awesome looking car, and you got it for free, so that's really the clincher. I can't wait to see what you make of it.

I got a pretty good stromberg 97 that I will soon be rebuilding, I've never done this before so I've been looking at some of the tech threads about rebuilding 97s. And I just had one question, does anyone recommend getting a stromberg jet wrench? Speedway has them for about $15. I was just wondering if there is an alternate way to remove the jets or if the wrench is a good investment. Thanks :)

Just read the "steeling credit for hot rod builds" thread and it made me wanna change the name of my project thread from [1st ever build] to [1st ever project], cause I didn't build it, haha. I dunno who did, but I'm just restoring it.

I haven't Found the drums yet, but I've stopped looking for a bit, my current task is to try and get it running, haha. I am about to buy a rebuild kit for a 97 that I just finished taking apart, then I need to plumb all the fuel lines, change plugs/oil, re-wire the battery terminals, and drop a radiator in it. Most of which I plan to do when I come home for winter break from school. And Thanks for the offers to help Druss32 and 31Whitey, I will probably be taking you up on that in the not too distant future. And as far as the fenders go whitey, I'm pretty sure I don't want them back, ever since I got the car, I knew I wanted it to have that old Indy series, open-wheeled look too it. But thanks for being so cool about it and I'll PM you if I ever change my mind. Happy belated Thanksgiving all!!, hope everyone had a good holiday with family and friends. :)

Hello all, It has been a while since I've been on, but I've got news: I'm finally moving home from school in a little over a week, so I'll be able to pick up where I left off on the roadster. I'm pretty excited about it... haha.

Hello all. After much thought and with much despair, I have realized that I can no longer continue with this project and therefore I have to sell it. I have exhausted all of my means and simply don't have enough spare time to pour into it. I would much rather see it become something amazing by the hands of one of you than to remain in my driveway dying a little more each day. Again, I am still new to this so I don't know what this is worth because there aren't many like it. But PM me an offer and we can set up a time for viewing and whatnot. Thank you.

man i say keep it. It was FREE. I know you could make a lil money on it but you have little to nothing in it.

You need to keep that car! If money is tight just store it for a while..you can always go back to it after school.

Can't you just push it up a corner out of the way and cover it up until you are ready to do something. Things may be a lot different 3 or 4 years from now.
Plus it was free and it came from family.
It's old and funky, and want to be just fixed up a bit and retain it's back yardy look,
    Mart.
