Started the repaint process this week. It had too many "Badges of Honor" and some rust issues, 97k plus being at B'ville for the last 5 years took it's toll. It must go to the upholestry shop on March 15th and then we leave for the Round Up on the 5th of April. Will it make it? I think so, it's not as bad as it looks. There was some bubbles where the pan was welded to the body. The leaded seam cracked from underneath, I have never seen that before. There were a ton of stone chips and we found some rust in this area The p***anger door and fender dog leg had some rust, cut it out and used POR 15 before putting the patches in. We decided to tighten up the gap on the rounded hood corners. There is a dent about the size of a silver dollar in the p***anger side of the hood that we have to deal with yet and a dent in the drivers door that came from some fat *** trying to close the door with his big fat ***. He shall remain nameless but his initials are Bob K. I hope we didn't bite off too much but I think we will make it. BTW I don't do my own body work, I am very fortunate to have a guy that works at the local Chevy dealership come over about 8 hours a week when needed to handle that part of the job. My buddy Steve is also a huge help with the other stuff. BB
How long did it take to plastic coat the inside of the garage? Good luck and make sure you have plenty of liquid refreshments to help wash down the dust and keep hydrated. Steve
Now keep your "fat ***" door closer off of it when it's finished and you'll get another 95k out of it! Hello from the warm country, Aridzona! Crow
She's looking good. The Devil's in the details and the little things will kill ya everytime. Looks like you got it under control though.
I hope the car makes it, but there better be no doubt about the owner being there. It wouldn't be the same without you, ya big cheesehead!
Hey fatas--I mean, Bob....is the same guy spraying it that did it last time? Hope he does--it sure was nice. That boy does some fine work I miss ya, old man xoxoxo
Wow, what a concept. DRIVE it, then after a few years, repaint it. I love it. I always know that I am at the most happening events when I see that green convert.
not that my opinion matters, but,,, that car needs to be green. it'll look fantastic in any color, but the green is perfect for it. Looking good!
Progress is being made, I see. Even with the best of care, stuff happens to cars. My money is on you and your body man to get er done in time. That dark green is a nice color. Bob T
Damn Bob good for you! That car looked so sweet I never noticed any of the trouble spots, too busy getting lost in that deep dark green! Good luck w/ it.
To those that asked about the color, it will be the same color, I don't want to spend the money that the Divorce would cost me. Maggie would be pissed if I changed it and frankely I love the green with the tan top. Eric, Maggie read your comment about yellow and orange, she says to tell you to get bent!!!!!. Seriously see the above and most of the comments about the current color. Excluding you and 3W larry of course. Mikey, yep that is the guy that did the finish work on the car 5 years ago, he is great, I am damn lucky to have found him. Yeah guy's, even if that car don't make it, we will for sure. The 62 is ready to go just in case. Steve, we did that plastic when we cleaned and repainted the shop this winter, I think it took us about 2 hours, we did have the benefit of some staging that I borrowed from a friend, that made it go a lot faste, we left it up because of the over spray and dust that this project is gonna create. Hey John, we will be happy to be your tour guide, see ya this weekend. Thanks for all of the words of encouragement guy's. BB
Ooops, I hope there weren't any beer rings on the front valance! This makes me think of all the cars we read about that were iconic in their day and then redone/fixed/changed as the miles added up. Credit to you for all the miles AND for keeping it up when needed.
The work might be done, but how long does it take to get outta that garage?????? I think it took me a week just to WALK through Bob's shop!!!!!!!!!!
