Just sold a BB Chevy to a guy in Michigan, I'm in Sacramento, Ca., anybody had any good luck with a shipper?

  2. For heavy stuff like that I've used Forward Air Transport. They have reasonable rates last time I used them as they do NOT pickup and deliver. They ship within their hub system only and you must drop off and have the other guy pick up at his local terminal.

I sent a fairly pricey built flathead to a customer in CA and just took a sturdy pallet and firmly anchored the engine to it and built a plywood box around it and shipped by Conway Express. Took 4 days and was between 3/400.00 delivered to his business.

I've placed ads on Uship.com and had great success. The private shippers have always done a great job for me and at a very low price.

  5. I used the same fellas to ship a steel T bucket to Florida a few years back. No problems and done in a timely fashion.

Your other option and almost never used these days is a HAMB Relay. Both you and your buyer should post that way whomever is willing might become morwe willing if they know one of you.

Option 3 is to try the HAMBodex. There are a lot of fellas that ship on here that could probably use the business. Keep it in the family if at all possible.

Thanks Guys, and the HAMBodex is a great idea. Any HAMB shippers want this gig?

i shipsome big heavy stuff often, it has been my experience as follows---
    r-l freight best all around
    fed ex freight 2cnd best
conway the worst-- these are based on shipping rates, time and most important-damage claims
i have had damage claims with fed ex and conway , conway is terrible to deal with and extremely slow at paying, i quit shipping with them, may be a local problem but they dont give a ****.
