Im trying to figure out where the therma-coil goes. I think that it is a Ranco H-16 heater valve but the therma-coil is not coiled up and attached to the body like i've seen on another page where they are rebuilding one. Its a used piece and the capillary tube is just all strung out. Also, can anyone explain what this does?
    Thanks.

I just had mine in the 1953 desoto rebuilt. The capillary tube on mine came back through the firewall and ran along the inside of the fire wall, about mid line with the dash. It works as a thermostatic control for the hot water valve. Not sure how well it worked because mine was not working before I blew the car apart.
