Been on here awhile, but mostly reading and learning till now. Two wheeled projects take most of my time, but now I'm tearing into my old '56 Chevy Pickup. My problem is this....I live in Atlanta, my truck is in smalltown Missouri. I removed the engine and tranny this weekend and carted them to ATL, but b/c of space, I had to leave the rest of the truck in MO where my parents live. I havent lived in STL for a decade, so I dont know the good shops that are around.

Can anyone give recommendations of a HAMB friendly, reputable body shop either around the Farmington or St. Louis area...a place that is good working on 50yr old metal? I don't want to just open the yellow pages, close my eyes and point a finger.

She's not going to be a show truck, and I'm not wanting any major body work done to her. Just looking to have some sheetmetal repaired/replaced in the usual rusted areas (headlight buckets, stepside, rocker panel, cab corners, etc). She would need a good sandblasting first b/c she's been stored outdoors for 15years..Im sure that will uncover other problem areas too.

Thanks in advance for the help HAMBers.

I do welding and rust repair, frame mods etc. work in O'fallon Mo.
You kind of contradict yourself, no major body work but you want it all sand blasted which means stripping whole truck down . I do know a guy that might strip it with a razor blade though, saves tearing truck down, no high preasures or chemicles on body .

Yea I do kinda sound contradictory there. All I meant is that I'm not wanting to chop, channel, notch, etc the truck. Id like to keep her body stock for now. Blasting & repairing the rusted areas certainly is a big job for sure though. I'm trying to get the ball rolling from 600miles away, so I hope to make a few calls to "ya'll" here in the upcoming weeks. Thanks for the help!
