Anyone know who owns this car, coz I love it and want some more pics of it. I have just bought a 4 door 55 and I am after kustom ideas. Are there any other 55 Buicks out there that people have customised? Any pics / ideas / suggestions, would be appreciated.
Don't know whose it it, but it's nice. I'm in the middle of restoring/modifying a '55 Special 2 door. Very cool cars for sure. Good luck with your project.
My friend has a pretty great 55 Super. Lots of pics at his photobucket account below. (The green 55 Super is my work-in-progress...) http://s130.photobucket.com/albums/p266/davevenski/
I just bought this one ----> and would like to know how your friend lowered his '55. Mine's a great car, but needs help in the stance department. Thanks in advance!
Thanks for everyones response. Keep 'em coming. Jeez they're a good looking car!!! Can't wait to get stuck into mine.
Was mine. Now, not. Somewhere in Austin last I heard. Mikey www.mikeyspinstriping.com New book coming soon. Get on list now "the Car Guy's Guide to Success" It's not just about the cars
I am anxious to learn how you are going to lower it. I'll have mine at the Roundup, too, lower and with new wheels and tires. Thanks for any info you can share.
I lowered the front of my 55 Special with Fatman dropped uprights, 1" lowering springs and removed the lower spring mount/plate from the lower a-arms and installed 1/2" bar stock, then bolted them back together (effectively lowering the spring mounting location). The rivets holding the plate to the a-arms were a bit of a pain to get out, but it was worth it. I lowered the rear with 4" springs and converted over to tube shocks since my knee action shocks were junk. The springs came from here : http://www.springsnthings.com/ Good luck with your new Buick! If you have any questions, let know and I will do what I can to help. Thanks for the compliment mx6262! (No PM there though)
Doh, just to clarify since I've recieved a bunch of PMs, I typo'd that when I wrote Super... the Special in my post is my friend's car, belonging to none other than Mr. Nailheadroadster above. Mine is the Sensible Family Man Super, not worthy of appearance in this thread.
Mr.? Me? Never knew I had moved to "Mr" status... On second thought... Ya know what? I like that! From this day forth Mr. V10, I believe that you shall refer to me at Mr. Nailheadroadster. And so it is done!!! However, "not worthy"? Well here ya go Mr. MAN!!! The badass Super has arrived. BTW for anyone out there that would be interested... Mr. V10 bought his 55 Super in Pennsylvania and DROVE that sweet ass luxo-cruiser all the way to Florida without an incident!!! How damn cool is that??? Original 322 nailhead and power EVERYTHING (seats, windows, antenna, etc). Love that car!! I gotta say... Cruising around and looking up in the rearveiw only to see another 55 is pretty damn cool. Neat stuff when he flys by me too!!!
My Special model 48. I put in a 401 with 2x4 AFB,s, mild cam and Super T10. Lowered it a bit and nosed it. It's been down to the Hot Rod Reunion in BG, KY several times and lots of other trips...........
