Hey thanks for editing out my first pass of the day (the clip at the end of video 1), I felt like a tool....I staged the car and saw the other guys lights on so I matted it against the trans brake only to see him turn on his top bulb....the sun was glaring off his bulb and I thought he was staged. So i let off the gas and waited until he turned on the second bulb and matted the pedal again, only to realize we were running a sportsman tree....that really sucked.

Thanks Troy for the videos. Looks like a great time, wish I could have gone. How can I get a listing of the Phoenix drag schedule? I would like to take my young son out to his first drags. I remember going out in SoCal back in '65-'66.

Thanks Mark, I've got bookmarked. We'll definately see you in March. Hope to get to some other events as well. Is the nostalgia drags for guys wanting to run their street cars? As soon as I finish my son's '56 Dodge, I'm going to start on a '50 Hudson Coupe w/ a '55 Chrysler 331 Hemi. I've never ran down a strip before and was wondering how a guy gets to learn the how to's and whatever safety gear is necessary. I'm not interested in competing professionally, but would like to feel what it's like running down the lane!

there is a time only lane for the guys who want to just run their cars, thats what I did, there were a lot of cars doing that. Get a NHRA rule book and learn it, and ask questions here if you don't understand what the rules mean (it can be confusing). Talk to guys who've raced before, have someone explain how it all works. it's definitely a lot of fun

oh yeah...and thanks for the videos!

  6. Good advice, Jim. If anyone wants to call the track for tech info, they'll help you out right then ,or have someone call you back.
Jim , I stopped by your car in the staging lanes to say hello, but you weren't there at that moment. I'll catch you next time.
Did you trailer your car up there?

    no, I drove it. It's a street car. I guess it's a fast street car? :)

(put 500 miles on the clock driving up there and back)

    Wow what a turn out!!
Thanks to all of you who support of our event, It seemed like everyone had a good time. Mark and I have some good friends and sponsors that I feel have helped make this the best Nostalgia Drag Race/Car Show in the southwest and we couldn't do it without them. Were always open to suggestions, so if you Guys and Gals have any ideas about something you might see us do next time just let us know. A Big Thanks to (Chip) needlouvers and (Craig) The Liberace here on the HAMB for hosting the hospitality area. Thanks for posting the youtube videos 4bangertroy, I loved your coupe, I would have liked to have got a chance meet a few more of my fellow HAMBers, but it seems like I'm always on the go on race day, oh well maybe next time. We will be posting some more pics and video as we get them from friends and family. Thanks again......................Spike

  11. Sorry to bring up an old thread- but I was pretty happy to find someone who had a picture or two of my car from this event. I didn't get any pictures 'cause my camera's batteries were dead. Thanks to Paul (Swanee3) at myrideisme.com for the picture.

Mark and Spike - Thanks! I had a great time and I hope I can make it in March!

  20. Hey guys, our March event will be on Sunday, March 27th , but that's not the whole story here.
The entire weekend will be a huge 50th anniversary blast for Speedworld.
There will be nostalgia cars, memorabilia, music , plus the Std 1320 Fuelers group, and many more surprises.
Trust me..... this party will be HUGE!
    Stay tuned.....

Why, Heck, the easy way to do that is look for the slightly beat up '48 Plymouth, the H.A.M.B. sign, the mess of mini bikes and the serape table cloth and stop by the H.A.M.B. booth and say hi!!! I too will offer to introduce you to everyone and everything related in the area! Make sure you take a moment to sign our banner too, I'd like to fill that puppy up come sundown on the 14th.

Another little update - Glen, Jeem, and the rest of us rear runners in the minibike pack, I'll be waiting for you guys a little longer in the pits this time after our great race! I've arranged a bit of a power boost ya know!!!
