    Slot Car Drags!

Yep you heard that right! Irvington Model Raceway is hosting a slotcar drag race open house: sunday, jan. 31. 1:00.

Should be pretty cool. some of the guys have multipul cars so you dont need anything, just show up. You can watch or race, should be a good time.

It is at the recently open Irvington Model Racway, 6708 Irvington road, just north of Omaha right on Irvington road.

    Make one.
How hard can it be to make a drag track?

A friend of mine made a circuit track a long time ago.

  5. Well good point I only need about 70 feet to do a drag strip as a scale 1/4 mile is 55 feet, the BIG issue is #1 it must be laser straight and flat the complete way as some of my drag cars run the 1/4 from .07 seconds to 1.9 seconds for some of the slower hard bodies.meaning that if it is the least bit out square the car will lauch like the space shuttle (done it before).#2 is the cost of the timing setup and the battery/charging system.........but I have thought about it/I might just make a HO drag strip to help me thru the Jonesing from time to time.........

Hi hiboy32. Sounds like a good time. I've seen some of you guys posting stuff about slot-cars recently, and it brings up a question/idea I've had for years. I've often thought that to have real-time engine sounds for these cars would be so cool. You know...feed it into an amplifier and speakers to add some realism to the racing. Configure the electronics to provide a real speed-sensitive sound for each car. With today's technologyy, I imagine it's possible. Anybody have any input? You guys have fun on the 31st!

The hard part , other then cost is a long building to put it in. I do understand the logistic's but a few sheet's of MD and some string and shims.a little body filler and off ya go. Timing in another issue all together.

The challenge of the track shouldnt be too hard, I think you can make it straight and flat. It is just wood.

The timing system is about $350. Not real cheap, but if you get a couple of guys in on it?? ya never know..

I did this in Wichita Falls Tx about 20 years and was really fun until the place closed its doors and I sold all my cars and gear for cheap... Was a lot of fun while it lasted

That is too bad, seems like they all come and go. Do you have any pictures of what you were racing?
