Can't think of a better way to spend a Monday night than to hook up with Kiwi Kev and hang out at his shop.....er Vintage Shrine. Thanks for the invite and hospitality Kevin! My buddy Bill (SOLO Speed Shop) and I headed down the 101 to Ventura to meet up with Kev and check out this cool place we had only seen in pictures. It is pure gold, with cool stuff in every corner, neatly placed. I have to say the photo albums and the vintage catalogs were super cool. I had never seem such a collection of Service Center stuff! And then there is the Willys...man it is really looking sweet. So many details he has aced throughout. Even sittin inside the car was bitchin. The many hours he has put into researching how things were done and should be really show. Again - thank Kev, that was a blast. Brad
I'm thinking a designation as a National Shrine would be appropiate. That way he could get assistance maintaining the place. I can't imagine the upkeep with a place like that but he seems reluctant to share with others so the burden can be eased. One tough sumbitch in my book. Frank
It's the King Tut's Tomb of Hotrodding!!!! I've been there four times and still haven't seen all there is!!!!
Not this shit again. Now even I'm getting sick of me. Seriously...Thanks Brad and it was great having you and Bill over. I haven't touched my Willys for a couple of months but that will change soon, I'm taking a week off work and I should get the roll bar in, rear firewall made, dash finished and a few other things done. I really want to drive that car to the Primer Nat's this year!
Not this year. My favorite part of the visit was finding this old picture in Dave's album. This would have been taken shortly after Mary and I were married. Now it's 25 years later and we're still going strong. Life is sweet with a good woman by your side.
Kev and Mary are the type of people you want everyone to be like. Just a joy to be around.........Your coupe seats are in good hands Kev.
....good woman by your side" you got that right Kev . My first mistake er wife wasn't into cars at all.... it was like having a constant handbrake ! this time round I have a top lady who has me building her a car of her own - makes life much happier when you share the addiction/passion for the old car scene. .
My wife just saw this picture and did a double take.... She would have sworn that was me when I was younger!!!! I swear I am looking at myself as well!
Mary isn't really into the car scene but she attended plenty of events in our early years. She even ran the Willys (4 spd) at Fremont and Bakersfield. RA has her pretty messed up now, thank god for modern medicine!
Glad the meds are helping Mary, Kevin. I remember when we visited you and she said "you don't even know these people, and you're going to go out and eat with them"!!??
