I will be soon doing the wiring in my coupe and would like to use some sort of bulkhead connector at the firewall. Does anyone make a junction block or plug to use as a disconnect at the firewall? I am using an EZ wire harness.

I'm curious as to why you want to do this....Are you building a flopper or removable body?
Just remember, the more you splice or connect wires, the more places you have for the system to fail.

For sure. If your going to do it with bulkhead make sure you get one with a bolt or other way of pulling it tight and keeping it there.

Nothing like hauling *** down a dark highway at night and having everything foward of the fire wall stop working because the bulkhead is loose.

Do a search for Amphenol Connectors. They have all sorts of connectors that can be utilized in a bulkhead situation. They are utilized in motorsports and aerospace. They are Mil Spec so reliability should not be a problem.

I'm into cars and electronics, and I have yet to find a really good bulkhead connector. I've decided it's more better to just run the wires thru and make them relatively easy to disconnect and remove from the "stuff" they connect to under the hood.

That said, the 70s GM bulkhead connectors work pretty well, and you can buy replacement terminals for the wires. Be careful with the main power feed wire, look at how much current it will have to p*** and be sure the wire size and connector type are up to the job. If you don't understand how to do that, learn...or don't use a bulkhead connector.

Oh yeah..the big square plastic connector is kinda ugly

I was only thinking of using a connector to ease future removal of the body if need be. The EZ wire harness has plenty of wire to go direct to each item. My thinking was one day wanting to run a different body on the same ch***is. So ok then, would some of you just suggest running the up front harness thru a rubber grommet?

Yep, we package all or our harnesses with a firewall grommet.

Thanks for the responses guys, you're the best as always. From what I have read, I will not be using a connector at the firewall. Made a lot of sense once I saw reason. Thanks again

    Richard,
I recently finished a (2) Ford 16-pin connector style harness, and they had a number of different wire sizes, and were easy to adapt over to rod wiring. Take one apart w/a pin type tool and see if they won't serve. Most wrecking yards have them still under the hood...then get some of them damn Grommits!:D

Any time later you can pull the body easily.

Go to the nearest general aviation airport, befriend a mechanic...A&P technician....and ask about "cannon plugs" and bulkhead connectors. Bulletproof!!
