I ran across this site looking for information about a parts supplier I have been having major problems with. More about that later. Lets move back a few years in time. When I was 16 I worked all summer for my old man who paid me the $40.00 to buy a 50 Ford from my cousin. That was the summer of 1958. The paint was a badly faded dark green, the tires were bald, The driver side of the seat was well worn but it had a flathead with overdrive and it was mine. As you may be able to tell from the price and the time to earn it, money did not flow fast and easy at our house. I use to see the guys from town with there supped up and fancy rods. All I had was that old stock Ford with no money to do anything to it with. Oh Well, I took the teasing because It sure was better then riding a bike to get to school, a basketball game or a record hop. One friend had a white and red 32 Ford pickup, Caddy engine, La Salle transmission and duel chrome stacks. He was always ordering stuff from J.C. Whitney. That truck has always been stuck in my mind. The 50 Ford is long gone as are many years spent dreaming about that 32 pickup. With raising my kids and then Carol's and my kids there was never any extra money available to persue a hotrod pickup. I'm 64 now and about 6 years ago I began to see some light in the financial tunnel. I started stashing away parts and pieces, Found a steel cab "32 Ford pickup" and Bought a repop 32 frame from American Stamping. It's rolling now and I am on my way. Some of you out there may be able to drift back, day dream a bit and may be able to remember some of the same. Anyway I'm from Ocala, Florida and I am looking forward to learning a thing or two or three here. The cab of the truck has been stretched 12 inches and chopped two(That's another Horror story). The machine work is all compleated on the 327 and it will have a 5 speed over drive behind it. I Thank all you folks for the oppertunity to drop a word or two on your site. Have Fun Buckshot
dv8, Yes, I have pics but they were for use in court. The people from De Land, Fl. (www.longleyrestorations.com) I had do the stretch and chop botched the job to the point the cab will have to be taken back apart and re done. The parts they said they worked on were, for the most part, spot tacked and just covered with bondo. The roof had bondo as thick as 1 1/4 . In other places where patch panels should have been installed it was just covered with bondo. I won my judgment and court fees . Once the court thing is finished I will be taking it back apart and will replace the parts my self. I know I can do much better work myself. They were supposed to be the pros - what a screw job. Now I am still doing battle with a company in Colorado. I ordered box parts from Last Refuge Hotrod. the order was placed in May of 2007 and I still am waiting for parts. They are screwing me for the tail gate and stainless strips for the box floor. I have been waiting for 14 months. When I e mail all I get is a bull**** story time and time again. The first set of box sides had to be sent back because they were botched up during the bead rolling. I guess Norb thought " the dummy will keep the sides even thought the workmenship is ****". I had to send them back. That was about 5 months ago. All the parts were paid for when the order was placed. I think I will find a place here to post about the way they treat people. This was supposed to be fun when it started. I think it will be again when I get over dealing with these three *** holes. Sorry for the ***** session. I guess I have become somewhat bitter. Looking forward to learning here on the site. What keeps me going is remembering the 32 pickup from yester year and the fun we had in it as kids. I will be there again ! ! ! ! Have Fun, Buckshot
Dang ! Hell of a story , if you run bias tires youll be pissed somemore ! Welcome from TEXAS Molly Hatchet RULES !
Welcome aboard Buckshot! Heck of a story there. I had been eyeing Last Refuge for a bed kit until I saw this. I'll have to do a little more research I suppose. Hope things work out for ya.
Greetings folks, Yep. I just got the last of my parts from Last Refuge Hot Rods. On Thursday Dec. 24, 2009 I received a package containing the last of the parts. This is the order I placed on May 31st 2007. That's only 31 months. I guess there are a bunch people on the HAMB that are into having a pity party for Norb and his Last Refuge Hot Rod company. I for one want to take my busy time to share my 31 month wait with anyone who wants to be advised. I don't want them to spend their hard earned money and have it tied up for "YEARS". On top of the wait you will be offered any number of excusis on why your parts are not going out. Write down the reasons you will hear the same ones over and over. Happy New Year ! ! ! Have Fun, buckshot
