Looking for a help on getting two titles..1. 1929 Model A sport coupe, no numbers any where to be found on the body, would settle for builders title/special construction, just wanna get the ball rolling, DMV not much help. Next is for my Alterd Chopped 48 Ford F-1 with vin-tag still attached and readable, whats the 1st step, maybe have the DMV do a title search, or is that a bad idea...PLease HElP

on the vehicle with a VIN #,,,first check to make sure vehicle is not in system by the VIN#,,,if its not,,then you can apply for a title,,you must get and afidavit signed by you and your neighbors (as a witness) saying that you have owned the vehicle for atleast 5 years,,,,

  3. your next question should be since the 48' has #'s ask the question "where are the numbers on the frame of a 29' model A".

I bought my 29 model a from a guy in lexington he stamped the numbers from the title on a brass tag and put it on the firewall they accepted it with no fuss.If you can get a title it's worth a try, on a vehicle that old it should not be hard to get a new title made . good luck

This works, I've done it twice in the last two years. First with a model A and no VIN, second with a motorcyle.

I just made up a VIN - starting with A and my daughters birthdates, checked with the clerk to make sure it wasn't in the system, had it engraved at the local trophy shop on a tag, and riveted it to the firewall.

Thats a good idea, but I have to find a title first for that to work, and that is where the trouble begins.

I bought a title, hand stamped a metal tag, went to the sherif's office and no problems. They did not check a thing except for the tag on the firewall. The vehicle was a 39 ford truck cab on a 2x4 frame no hood or fenders and all that was said was "nice truck" Most questions at the c. clerk ended when I said I wanted h. plates

  11. Model A serial numbers were on the frame. But often they got registered using the engine number. Just get a title and put a tag on it with the same number -

The A number is on the frame under the drivers side cowl. It's near impossible to read without taking the body off the frame. There may be a easier way to read it but I'm not aware of any. They had no number on the body. I was told this by a Model A addict and he knows his stuff. I have two frames and was looking up on the front in the area of a later Ford 37 etc. but both were back right where he said to look.
