Hi, my name is Thomas and I've been into aircooled VWs since 1997 when I bought my first Karmann Ghia. Many VWs have come and gone since then, because I seem to always get bored with cars and wanting to build something new. But it's always been VWs, everywhere, all the time. I even met my wife in a VW shop, buying parts for her slammed 62 Bug.

Well, we have a beautiful baby daughter now, and I have started dabbling in Volvo station wagons, to have more room for the baby. But I am now bored with the Volvos, so we have decided to buy a 60s American wagon of some kind, most likely a Chevy. My wife loves the idea, because she misses her 62 nova to death, which she bought when she was 15 and restored by her self. She later became a Humvee mechanic in the National Guard.

There's a 62 Bel Air wagon in town that I have got my eye on. I want to find something with some patina, and slam it on some big wheels. The interior will be all brand new, by my wife's orders, and most likely bright red depending on the body color. But that is all still up in the air, and we will see what happens once we have the car here in the garage.

Anyway, here are some pictures of some of the cars i've owned in the past:

Yeah, I made a stencil that said RoachRide, back before the owner of the hoodride site ran off with everyone's money. I still regret selling that Razor.

That wagon is bad*** man! Especially considering it's on the other side of the pond. Makes me even more eager to start on my project. How did you lower yours?

Oh, and am I allowed to put a VW up for sale on this site? I've heard that the HAMB can be a bit VW-unfriendly, and I don't want to step on any toes. We're trying to sell my wife's white 66 Bug pictured above to get money to buy the wagon.

Yeah Derrick was a friend of mine, I haven't spoken to him really since the **** hit the fan, i know he got into a bit of a mess and made some wrong decisions but i think people hyped it up a lot worse than it was. I'm not defending him but there's 2 sides to every story... anyway enough about that.

i found the wagon on ebay, it was in Texas, less than 3000 of those 57 2 doors made so it's pretty rare. the rear is down on 3" blocks, the rear has currently no springs in it but it will be getting airbags.

No idea about advertising VW's on here, i just keep it seperate.

Thanks a lot for the welcome, guys. I look forward to absorbing some good information on your site!

I was buddies with Derrick too, until he took my money from me. I got an email from him after the site went down apologizing and promising to repay me the money someday, but it was just $40 so I told him to keep it and use it to get himself straight. I never heard from him again. I agree that there's two sides to every story, but I don't think it's ever right to rip people off.

Thanks for the info. about lowering your wagon. I have no idea what I am getting into with regards to lowering a Chevy. I was hoping to get some dropped disk spindles for the front, as long as the price isn't too incredible, and either cutting coils or getting lowered springs Knowing that blocks will work in the back I guess that's my plan there. I do want to do things on a budget, but since I'll be daily driving my 7 month old daughter around, I've got to keep it safe and smooth-riding.

Good idea about keeping the VWs separate. I think that's what I will do too. Thanks Tim!
