    This is probably a newb question, but here it is anyway. On some forums, you can let people know that you're going to bid on an online auction, and other forum members will not bid against you. Is that the case here?

    I tried that once at a real live auction. A guy I knew from school was standing there. Turns out he was interested in the same item. I asked him how much he was willing to pay. Turns out I was willing to pay a lot more. I asked him if that was the case if he wouldn't bid against me. The little ****er still did knowing I had more money with me and was willing to pay more. I should have gave the creep a knuckle sandwich. I would have bowed out if it were the other way around.
