well was on earlier this week about selling my 53 handyman wagon, well i didn't think i would find a replacement so quick but found my new project on ebay. i still need to get it shipped home but thought i'd post a few pics.
it's in san diego, CA and i'm 1779 miles away so anyone got a empty trailer heading my way?
need some changes but it should be a good start.

    really nice looking wagon

  9. That car is screaming chrome reverse wheels to me...I might think about painting the top a contrasting color...that's a lot of red...

    Great looking car!

was i ever happy today, my 55 wagon is on the transport and on the way home!
was i ever lucky, i called tuesday and it was loaded thursday morning, wow that's fast. should be home the 2nd or 3rd. just can't wait.

  17. Sweet. I agree, the wheels have to go. Here's one vote for plain ol' steel wheels, maybe something a bit wider than stock and made for radial tires such as stock steel wheels for a '70s-'80s Caprice, stock dog dish caps and beauty rings for a real sleeper. Maybe two-tone that red with white, I think all '55-'57 Chevys and all '55-'56 Fords need to be two toned. Just my taste/preference.

thanks 38fordpickup , the first thing i'm going to do is take a big hammer and knock the spinners right off! i hate them. i also have thought abought a 2 tone , mabe ivory white or black and also have thought abought the steel wheels and caps.
mabe when i get it home i'll have the photo shop wizzards on here do some photos to help me make up my mind.
any votes on what color on the 2 tone?

I'd ivory the top of the car. Actually I'd ivory from the belt-line up. I think this makes a natural break in the paint (you can hide it behind the trim) and it makes the car much cooler in the summer sun. If you don't line the belt-line up I'd at least paint the top ivory for the same reason, and it looks good too.

well it's home!! and it made the trip with no damage. thank god. and as soon as it hit the garage the razor blade came out and the bowtie met it's maker then the ugly spinners went in the trash. what a improvement. i realy didn't even want to drive it the 4 blocks home in this ****ty weather and i think it was in shock coming from california to this cold *** state, brother said hopefully it don't split open fron the cold.
was i supprised when the driver called me on the 1st and said he was 60 miles from my house and would deliver it in the afternoon. was my heart pumping when i saw the truck come around the corner with her on top.
i used a transport company from my state and that way i was close enough to go directly to their front door if there was a problem, also i didn't go on the cheap i paid the $100.00 extra to get it on the truck quicker and also don't forget to buy the driver steak for his good service. hey i'm not rich but they bust their *** to provide you a good service.
now it's time to bet busy and get her ready for nice weather, alot of changes ahead.
i was going to use a hamb members trans but he couldn't get it home for up to 8 weeks and it's hard to leave a car you paid for set when it's 1800 miles away, alot can happen to a car in that time.
well thought i'd update this thread.

I know its a crazy idea but I would make sure it has antifreeze in it. Sounds like common sense but I know some one that towed a 59 Chevy all the way to Va. from Calif. & the block froze & cracked in his garage the 1st winter back here.

    Nice wagon by the way!!
