Hey all, I just found this forum board recently and already learning lots of info. My name is Brent and I am a hotrodder of the nostalgia kind. I drive a suede purple 53 Canadian Pontiac with a flake purple roof, oh yeah, forgot to mention, I am from Canada. Anyhow I am looking forward to gettin to know all you guys out there. Brent
Welcome Brent! Please show some pix, whenever you can. Some here can't read, they only can look at the pictures Sparky
For all you guys wantin to see a pic, here ya go. Here is a couple shots of me tryin to warm up a winter night up here in Canada with my 53 Pontiac Sled. Also, for all curious, its powered by a 67 Pontiac OHC 230 inline, with true duals, glass packs and flamethrowers.
Flamethrowers! How dangerous! I must report you to the proper authorities. Seriously,kick-ass ride, how are yoy getting such big flames? Sparky
An OHC6? Bitchin! I bought a '66 Tempest 230 years ago with thoughts of putting it in my '51, but went the 235 Chevy route instead. How do you like the engine? Any tips? After I finish the Chevy I plan to build some sort of rod using the OHC.
Hey Sparky, Creating big flame was shown to me by a fellow out of Minnesota. I am using the typical flamethrower kit that you can buy from Hotrods Of Norco, and i run a 600cfm Edelbrock as my 230 is no slouch, well mix that combo with a manual choke and presto big fire. Get the pipes hot first, play around and find the sweet spot with the choke where its rich but will stay running, and have fun... or yank it out all the way, but push it back when you flip your swicth off as it will stall rapidly if you dont.
Hey Rustymetal, I am located in Saskatchewan, where its frikkin cold now.. oh well, gives me a chance to get going on my 28 sedan project.
Hey Jeff51 I love my OHC. I have been running it in the 53 now for 10 years. No problems with the motor except for parts being scarce for them. I have a few of these motors and am currently building a 28 A sedan nostalgia rod and plannin on power coming from another OHC as well. Long live the Inline 6. The OHC is a real good motor, produces great power and torque and still gets good mileage.
Thanks Brent! I'll use that good advise, when 'Throwing' BTW there is a guy in our club, that has a '39 Pontiac, with a Pont.OHC 6. Pics on www.theoriginalpoorboys.com. Tn chapter, Kelly. Sparky PoorBoysCC,TN
