SAY WELCOME WHAT! Lol I'm glad I have your attention. I guess since I'm new the site that's an appropriate title so please break me in easy. I'm 49, brown hair with some gray (I still have most of it), hazel eyes, 5'7", 262lbs and dropping, married for 25 years, two boys Jesse (21) and Corey (16) and from Xenia, OH. I'm an engineer that specializes in production analysis and advance manufacturing technologies. I love long walks..... wait wrong forum. I really do love mentoring young people through this wonderful hobby of ours. I'm the mentor for some very special young people in a local car club, a 4H adviser and a science fair judge for 8th-12th graders. I love learning! For the past two days I've been reading all kinds of stuff here. In fact yesterday I think I spent almost 10 straight hours reading. I like all kinds of rides including what people refer to as ricers. My current project is a 37 Ford 5 window coupe that I'm chopping and doing all the fun stuff to make it a really cool Rat Rod. I found this site while searching the internet for information about fuel injected flatheads which is exactly what I'm going to put in my new toy. Oh yea I'm going to have the whole blower thing going too I look forward to talking to everyone and hopefully meeting you at some event. Thanks for having me. Jerry
Welcome from Canada! Post some pics of your project when you get a chance... we like pictures... and build threads...
welcome, from the oklahoma panhandle. my wife walked by as i was reading the first of your post and gave me the strangest look. thanks for that, now i've got some splainin to do.
welcome from central PA. Nice introduction. I'm a young person-also trying to getter similar aged people into this lifestyle/hobby. post some pics, sounds like a cool car!
now she's pissed, she was wearing the exact same outfit this time. nice. how you gonna fit all that in your '37?
That's what happens when you can't see your feet. Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. Anderhart, I think it is great to see young men and women participating. I'm sure the resent popularity of rat rods is fueled by those young people who do not have established careers and much extra $ but now have the ability to build a relatively low budget ride that gets wide acceptance. Six years ago My son desperately wanted to build a 68 Camaro for his first car but the reality quickly set in when he started investigating the cost to do it. So he settled for a 95 Eagle Talon which he put a ton work in and spent a lot of his hard earned dollars. I think both of those items significantly contributed to the fact that he has had no tickets or accidents. He truly appreciates what he has and takes great care of his cars. Now him and his brother have a 60 T-bird that they both work on and share. It's not a Camaro but still a really cool ride. I have spent the last several years helping everyone else but now it's time to work on one of my projects and both of my sons are biting at the bit to get started. The project does excite me but not nearly as much as knowing the three of us are going to be working together on it, watching them utilize the knowledge that I have passed on to them and knowing that we all will share in an experience that we will remember for a life time. You can see this project at http://www.jerry-nita.com/Talon.html Jesse is has been talking about looking for another car so he can build a rat rod.
Oh I've been in the real world of roddin for a few projects now. (2) 37 ford coupes, (1) 34 coupe, (1) 34 sedan, (1) 47 stude truck, (2) 69 Camaros, (1) 70 Chevelle, (1) 69 Nova and currently I have the 37 coupe and three other projects waiting (69 Nova, 69 Camaro and a 67 Chevelle). I think I'm going to sell the Nova and Chevelle because I have a couple of guys bugging me to death about them. This week Jesse and I are going to look at a 32 body, hopefully his next project.
