  3. here is the ply he is doing the 305/350 engine swap on - Its all a pretty much done deal , I have the ***le for the 54 ford , his down payment and the parts are here ,he picks up the 67 mustang on delivery of the 54., i keep the ***le until the Ply is back here and the balance is paid. normally i wouldn't do this kind of thing, but he is a freind and he made the deal not me.the 40 is getting mothballed until later, after I get the ***le [IMG] ,collect parts and make room.

When Henry redesigned the 49 Ford...

Did they hold a seance to do this? Henry died in '46!

I thought he died in '47? Anyway, the '49 Ford was well into the design stages by 1945-46, and the '49 Merc body was meant to be for the Ford, and the Lincoln (big) body was meant to be the Merc?

Shoeboxes are only '49-'52 Fords, that's it. '55-'57 Chevys are NOT shoeboxes. '53 and up Fords are not shoeboxes either, neither are Nova 11s.

I meant to say '49 -'51 Fords, pardon me.

  7. I'll always make sure I use the correct term NOW, lol,I had no idea people were so p***ionate about it. my buddy that is still racing said this weekend that all early to mid fifties cars are shoeboxes They all are shaped like them ,slab sides and all, but I corrected him to watch where he says that, LOL I still think it may be an area thing,I had never heard of it only pertaining to the 49 -51 fords only, locally. yes, I have seen those in early magazines described as such, but I have also seen 55-7's described the same way, but hey, it makes not a bit of difference to me.its just a tag, but here anyway its 49-51 FORDS FOREVER.LMAO

  8. so away from that what should I do w this thing? sell it ? mild custom ? full on custom ain't gonna happen, don't like em that much, at least to drive, have to chain my pittbull to the bumper to keep peeps off/away from it. looks like it was a lt 60's street machine at one time those are old *** SUMMIT 14" BIAS tires all the way around w no weather checking and new tread, maybe a clean up as is and powdercoat those steel slotted wheels chrome siver or polished alum..

Wow - nice deal, Mike. Now, what to do with the '54...

If it were me I'd go for the mild custom look. The soft, round lines call out for it. Swap the grille and taillights, maybe some trim changes, white walls and hubcaps and you're done.

But then, I'd do any car that way. [IMG]

By the way, what's all that white stuff on the ground?

Dave (in Pennsylvania, where the white stuff hasn't happened yet)

  10. kind of thinking the same , I have a set of big n lttle five spoke laying around,or 15" wide whites red wheels baby moon caps w a definate rake w a serious drop in hight. maybe a a semi gloss black main body (for now ) pearl white roof w ghost flames or scallops going back the top from the windsheild. That white stuff is angel **** we are blessed w lots of it in the winter and so you will be I know Penn. doesn't get away w not getting any lol [IMG] Did't these have 15" wheels orig.?

  11. I'd gladly take that Plymouth and make it a Mopar-motivated ride! I been looking for one of those for a while... Nice lookin' car.

  12. well, come up w a 37-41 chevy cpe as solid, complete,***led + lic and its yours , [IMG] its no secret, I'm a chevy guy and not in love w either of these cars, be up to me they would both have sbc's,but thats just me [IMG]

  13. but lets not turn this into a cl***ified ,we have a place for that. PM me

LOL, geez another debacle! I went into the closet and looked at all the shoeboxes in there, I don't see any that look like a 49-51 ford???? [IMG]

  15. Grats Mike on the deal...you seem to be making out like a bandit!!! That 54 is a pretty decent lookin car.

I thought that Ford had some design contest and they picked two winning designs?....one became the 49-51 Ford and the other becamse the 49-51 Merc?....Henry didn't have much to do with it I thought???
