Getting a little work done on this thing. Sorting out rad placement and which grill shell to use. I think I need to have this rad shortened a few inches. Not enough ground clearance under this one, haha. Lining everything up on the top side only leaves 3.5" of ground clearance under the rad with the '29 shell the '31 is even worse. I need to have the top tank reworked and the cap moved. Also my fan is way too high on the rad, any ideas on how to move it down? Or does the rad just need to be up higher? Norton
I'll be using the '28/'29 shell. Need to rework the top tank a bunch to fit the rad shell. My fan is too high! Any ideas how to change that? Moving the rad up in the shell is going to help some, I'm not sure if enough. I won't know how much until it's changed. Norton
Another little update. Got the front crossmember in. Just a little more cleaning up to do on it and t******* the ends off and rounding the corners. Should look pretty cool. Went to the Ancaster swap and picked up some needed parts. $10 headlight buckets. $100 4 core mustang rad. He had it built for his '65 mustang drag car and then turboed it and needed a bigger rad. Big score for me! Been working on my headlight stands. Gas tank mock up. I like it angled a bit. Hard to see in the pic, but it's tipped forward a little. Let me know what you guys think. Norton
Not sure if it was mentioned but what's your wheel base on this ****er??? It's really turning out nice man!!!!
Thanks fellas. zimm, Either light green or light blue with white running gear. Not sure yet. JefferyJames, I'm pretty sure it's at 107" and a little bit right now. A few inches shorter would be nice, but I'm not cutting anything else apart now, haha. Norton
Looking great Norton. Keep up the good work. Post us some pics on the Track Roadster thread. Kevin Ooltewah Speed Shop
Just seeing this for some reason. Very cool! Love the stance and one more vote for the body being in the right place with some frame showing! Neat-o! Question, and maybe I missed it in an earlier thread. Why did you change from having the spring over the crossmember? Too low? Just curious. Love it!
scooter, I've been following you build posts every step of the way! You've been a huge insperation. Trying to have it done for this coming summer. Norton
Wow! Thanks man! I'm trying to be pretty well wrapped up by this summer too. Wanna drive to the beach?
Norton, Your Modified is coming along very nice. Have considered turning the spidles so the tie rod is in front of the axle ? 41 Dave
Not going to go that route. I'll heat and drop the steering arms or just buy some dropped steering arms. Norton
It should be on the road this summer! Unless I sell it! Hahaha. Is the body work done on your car Scott? Norton
Well, being young and dumb and impatient, I cut the steering arms off of my spindles. Only to find out the steeping arms I bought won't fit on the later front axle I'm running!! DAMN IT! Norton
I read some threads on here and got over my problem. And may have created another one.... How much does a transverse spring front end rebound back up after hitting a bump? What do you guys think about this set up? Norton
Thanks guys! The front end set-up on this thing has been my biggest problem for the whole build so far. Bending the stock steering arms down far enough to clear the spring would have had them too close to the scrub line on this rig. I've seen steering arms bent up before, but that wouldn't have been up far enough. These after market arms look like they're going to work. Norton
