Ray Helgar on the right looks through some of the many photo albums that people brought. Nailhead racer Buddy George is almost hidden behind Big Nick giving his usual greeting.
Don't forget the two nostalgia drags / show /swap at Lebanon Valley dragway each season. They run 1/8th mile nostalgia cars, too.
we may have to contact them and see what we can do there as far as a cl***. See if the guys want to run more races etc.. Not a bad idea tho Hey Slick, he'd be doin me a favor.....LOL!!!!!!!!
I am pretty dreamy, aren't I Slick!!! Jo-Jo and the boys need to come up for air by the looks of things!! HAHAHA...don't know your wife, and no disrespect meant, but I'm not into favors...except maybe stoppin by to talk and check out what's goin on in your shop some time. This is a great effort you guys are doing for the east coast. I AM going to have to join you soon!
R U sure, I'd let her go.....Cheap!!! LOL! Stop by any time. Right now I have a couple dragsters, an altered, two Willys coupes both with blown Hemis and a Model A roadster. at the moment. I have a '74 Gremlin comin in for a quarter and rocker replacement, not a fun one but, pays the bills. Also might have a 70' charger full resto in January.
Joe, your steering box is in and the front end os basically installed, picking up the rear axle first thing tomorrow. Did you want me to add the push bar on the rear or??? Let me know. You should be able to grab the ch***is Saturday.
Joe, any new updates....its been like three days since you took it home! Is it done yet..LOL!! Keep us updated. Thanks
Damn Tim that is cool! That 341 would be pretty quick in a Dragster ( I'd guess a 1/4 et in the nines with the right trans) so I agree you would have to consider NHRA rules, As Eagle Field comes together in the future I would love to put together a cl*** of old school simple dragster cl***. I'm thinking 3x2 or single 600 4bbl Holley or AFB, 8" slicks max, standard or automatic with no convertor smaller than 10", NO trans brakes and no engines over say 310 CID. At Eagle Field we don't plan on puttin' any sticky on the surface and the 8" tire should be a great equalizer. Sorry about the hi-jack great thread! Rocky
These style of car would be perfect for events such as Eagle Field. Any track that allows HAMB dragsters to run 1/4 mile, should be able to allow these cars to run 1/8th mile. At the New England tracks we plan to run an index of 7.50 but that may be adjusted to 7.00. With an index you don't have to put limits on cubic inches or cubic dollars. The spirit of the cl*** is early sixties looking dragsters and altereds. You must run a CLUTCH, no automatics... Maximum tire is 10"...General safety rules apply.
I think what you guys are doing is awesome. I was only thinking out loud for our events at Eagle Field where we plan on staying with Flag starts and no clocks. The old cars are so cool, I was thinking the cl*** for our events would be perfect for a group or club to put together with a car "pick your part" 305 Chevy or 302 Ford and put on a hell of a show. I really dig what you guys are doing and can't what until I see results from your events. Rocky Elmer "Unsprung" Snyder at Eagle Field Oct. 2010
I just got back to check in on this thread, Damn Rocky now you know that my engine is 341ci wont make the 325 limit. Oh well, I guess I'll have to build a new one I've already got plans to build one of about 316ci, just destroke this one from 3.5" to 3.25" should work out just right. I know the west coast has it's own thread on this subject going now thanks to Rocky but it doesn't hurt to give you guys a bump, it will be good to compare notes.
