    14102193...87-up...305/350......1.94"/1.5" valves
HO heads, smaller chambers, smaller runners but you do get 1.94 valves. perfect for torque and power to 5000 rpm on a 350. if you want more rpm dont run 305 heads.

I was just reading that article. That makes it sound like the compression would not be too high w/the smaller combustion chambers on the 305 heads.....if you start out with 7.6:1!!

Those are Swirl Port TBI heads with 64cc chambers but yes, they are also a great TQ and mileage head under 5,000. They would make the static compression a little more tolerable too. They have the center two manifold bolt holes at a different angle but that's not a show stopper. They have a ramp in the intake runner throat to induce turbulence to help combustion efficiency. Not a great high RPM Hi Perf head but for what 'kevs79' is doing not a bad choice at all. They can usually be picked up pretty cheap too.

i have a 1990 350 2 bolt main and found a set of 305 casting number 14014416. installed with 350 head gaskets. used the stock roller cam, lifters and push rods from the 1990 model engine with the head set up(it came complete with rockers). runs great on 87 octane pump gas. hope this helps answer any specific questions when looking for an answer to this question.

oh yeah no over heat problems or pinging... seems like i had to retard my timing a little bit but nothing serious....

was also able to bolt all my brackets to the heads for the stock serpentine belt system.

</pre> another concern that i read about while trying to get info on this before i did it was flat top pistons.... ive got flat top pistons with the 4 valve reliefs. no problems what so ever.

Thanks for the info. Sound like this may be the way we will go for now. Anyone else have any experience on the subject?

I know this is old, but I also have used 305 heads on a 350 and it was a beast, I had a 90 9C1 police car with the TBI 350 took off the tbi 350 heads and found flat tops. so with a thick blue felpro head gasket, I slapped on the 416 305 heads I got from the junkyard, added an stock LT1 cam and put it back together, added a mail order chip that wasnt very close to what I needed ,lol added some long tube headers and 2 1/2 dual exhaust and it made 265Ftlbs and 206 hp to the rear wheels , pulled up to 5000 rpm and dropped off very slightly after that too about 5500 when he let off.

I'd still like to try the 416 heads on a 327.... I wonder if anyone ever tried that combo......
