been doing more pondering than welding these days,,,,,,i was mostly happy with the profile of the car, but something just didn't seem quite right,,,the first problem involved the headlight area, , at first i was thinking maybe they stuck out too far,,,then one morning i realized that the angle was the problem,,it was too straight,,i fabbed up a swept back angled "hood" for it, with an angle that complimented the other angles on the car (windshield, fin, quarter, rear of the cove),,,i feel like it flows much smoother now and doesn't work against the rest of the lines of the car,,,,,the second problem involved the curve at the top of the doors,,,,it didn't transition smoothly enough,,,,after a lot of trial and error with the masking tape.....the car now seems to flow with no "hiccups" to break up the lines,,,i will trim off the piece of metal showing above the tape line, make some filler pieces to tie the cowl in, and it should be good to go,,

You crack me up! It's good to know I'm not the only one with OCD ! I too have spent many hours alone, sitting, staring...somethings not quite right... The good news is it always comes to you. When I look at the passenger door where there is alot of contrast , I see the hiccup you're talking about. Carry on! SCOTT

This is an interesting build, in that there seems to be no time table. Looks like one of those 50's factory experimental cars. One of a kind indeed, just hope to live long enough to see it in paint.....................:D

Not everyone understands design, not everyone understands passion and certainly not everyone understands why someone would build a car like this.

I'm just curious Jim, what are you going to do for an encore...???

  19. You did the right thing. When the lines don't click in your brain, ya gotta step back and study the beast. The connection between the eye and brain will tell you when it's right. You should have gotten that positive message this time. Rock On Brother.

  20. I wouldnt say that. Some people just dont do over the top.
Myself, I like subtle. I LOVE looking at a car and trying to nail whats been done to it.
Dont get me wrong, I still like customs and the well done over the top cars, but I'll like a 3" chop on an A over a 6" chop....... just how I am. :D

Maybe it's just the angle of the photo but is the seating position too low in relation to the cowl. In other words have you sat in it and can you see the road ahead?

Don't jinx the project by talking about "warp factor" when there's still 100 miles of welding left to do. How 'bout Mach 9.5?
