Wisconsin Bound Feb 10-15

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by BadLuckBetty13, Feb 1, 2010.

  1. I'll be flying into Green Bay Wisconsin next week to watch my husband and his team Old No. 7's compete in the Labatt Blue pond hockey tournament in Eagle River, WI. We are going to freeze our ***es off and his team is pretty confident that they will not make it into the finals so we will have all day Sunday, February 14 to get into trouble. Is there anything out there that we should check out? Hot rod shops, bars, good eats, music events?

Unless you like the Packers or touring TP factories Applebee's is the highpoint.

  3. Ahh hell..... this is going to ****! Thanks though. LOL At least I know what I am in for. Someone said Oneida Casino in Green Bay hosts shows all year. I checked the calendar and we are missing Jesse Dayton by a week.

If you don't mind freezing your tail off, you could go check out the national train museum.. Other than that, bars, casinos and places to eat.

  5. Any specific bars, casinos or eats? National Railroad Museam sounds pretty cool ... and COLD! lol http://www.nationalrrmuseum.org/en-us/default.aspx looks like they are doing something special "Romance on the Rails" for Valentine's Day. Thanks for the info! We might be checking that out if the guys play ****ty enough.

Eagle River? Snowmobile race museum is there isn't it?

Rent a snowmobile for the day and hit the trails. Get out of Eagle River however as the trails will be pretty beat around town. Go northwest and they have better snow.

You could check to see if they have any ski jump compe***ions in either Iron Mountain, MI or the other one up near Powderhorn ski hill. I think Iron Mountain was this past weekend however. That is pretty neat to see.

Not much to do up there in the winter if you don't ice fish or snowmobile...or like to sit in a bar.

Only one Casino around here, and that's Oneida.. Go lose some money so my taxes stay low! :)

Check out Shopko Hall to see what they have going on, usually an expo of something.

As for places to eat that are good. ***leTown, Legends, Los Banditos (mexican), Curly's (Inside Lambeau Field).. Lots of places to eat along Oneida street (Normal places, Buffalo Wild wings, Texas Roadhouse, etc), and the Baypark Mall is there too.

Also, if that isn't enough, there's Appleton 30miles south..

You must follow football, being from MN your kicker and former Packer Ryan Longwell knows that Applebee's is the nicest retaurant in Green Bay!!!
Seriously, if your in Green Bay you might want to check out the Riverside Ballroom, where Buddy Hooly played his second to last show.

Have fun on the frozen water! I was at that pond during July 4th weekend two years ago and it was cool then!

Drive down to Lake Winnebago. The sturgeon spearing season starts feb 13. Drive out on the lake and check out all the shacks. You're bound to meet some great people and get some good pictures.

  14. North Star Casino in Bowler has shows it closer than Green Bay. On your way through Stop in Birnamwood Home of Kellys Hot Rods !!

  15. Thanks Kelly! Sounds like a kick*** shop. I need to map this all out to make sure it's possible. I mentioned ManTown and Weasles to my husband and he laughed although ManTown sounds basically like a Dave and Busters except better?

Green Bay, the town is pretty boring. About all there really is to do, are the bars, the casino, and the Packer games. Once you get a bit older bars ain't as much fun as they use to be, filled with mostly 20 somethings, and cops out looking for drunk drivers.

Wherever you are in town, should have no problem finding a bar. Winter is pretty boring, unless your into venturing out in the freezing cold, s****ing off your car and going out snowmobiling, skiing or ice fishing. In summer there are a few festivals and fireworks downtown on the fox on the fourth of july. I'd say that appleton is a newer nicer town and probably has more going on then Green Bay now.

Lots of places to find a good fish fry though on Fridays. Been years since I've been there now, but Redwood inn always use to have a good perch plate. But the place is small and the small bar area packed while your waiting to be seated. The fourway bar in suamico has pretty good fish too, my realitives get together and meet out there once in awhile. Drift inn in De Pere many say has good chili, been years since I've been out there too.

Eagle river, the northwoods are beautiful, tons of lakes and forests, and the place to be if your into doing stuff outdoors.
