Looking for rules and regulations for Indy racing from the year 1925-1928 for use during the build of a replica. We are buiding it using a 1925 Nash chassis and drivetrain, Duesenberg wheels, L-29 Cord grille, and are making a boattail body out of aluminium. We are looking for wheelbase dimensions. We have a few early superchargers to choose from, but we don't know if they were allowed then. We think they were outlawed in '29. Any info or pictures related to 1925-1928 Indy will be appreciated.

We fired it up using the ORIGINAL spark plugs today. Engine only has 20,000 miles on it.

An interesting project. I am not sure that you'll find the rule book for that era to be as complete as you may hope....nothing like today. I am quite certain that if you were to contact the folks at indy that they could help. I do not know for surebut I think that back then it was almost a run what ya brung. Please, keep us posted with how the project is progressing.

Thanks for the comments. What I really need, is the info I'm looking for. C'mon nerds, Some of yous know what I'm looking for. I don't want to have to contact the squares at Indy.

1925 must have been the last year for the 122" (C.i.d) formula since '26-'28 were all 91" engines. Most of the 122s and all of the 91s were supercharged. Can't tell you what the wheel base reg was but probably a minimum of 96". 1930 was the first year of the "junk formula" which allowed up to 366"-hoping to attract more stock blocks.
