How many different styles of back up lights were available for the 58 Fords? So far, I've seen either none, round or square...I cant seem to find many pics of them online...

The only ones i remember on 58 fords are mounted on the panel between the taillight lenses and i believe they are either rectangular or square.

ok so they are square? sounds good. and yes, both of you are correct, the inner socket in between the red tail lights. funny thing is the socket itself is round...

Most typically, I think, they were t****zoidal. These are the factory-installed reverse lights, this piece mounts to driver's side of the trunklid...

I had a Fairlane 500 Town Sedan that was equipped what I believe were dealer-installed backup lights. They were a small pointed conical bullet type that mounted in the same position as the ones seen above. I've seen other '58s with the round lights, though most have the t****zoidal one, if they have them at all.

I think all wagons have the smaller “bullet” type, if equipped with back-up lights, like the ones on my wagon.<O:p</O:p
There is no room for the t****zoidal ones here..

ah 1957belair those are them exactly! I just purchased a 58 wagon from a fellow hamber and those reverse lights are the ones missing! thank you! Man, I really like the t****zoid shape a bit better....any idea where to find a pair of the ones for the wagon? I checked the "bay" and only saw a single.

  11. That's one clean Country Sedan! I have a friend with a '57 Country Sedan in a similar colour scheme and also a '58 Town Victoria which is Turquoise and white.

A lot of cars were built stripped down at the factory in those days and dealers did a lot of add on's.. I worked at a mopar dealer and installed quite a few extra lights.

  16. I have a backup kit # B8A-18275-B1

I am pretty sure I have a spare..

I see whole kits on ebay for $50 or less. You just need to be patient.

Not sure of a part # on the lens..they say FB-58A on them.

I have a 58 Town Victoria and mine have those back up lights. Even I have more than a couple of spares that have the hole for the light. I think most of the Fairlanes built in Mexico had that back up lights since factory.

I researched this on mine and determined that the round ones were factory installed on wagons and dealer installed on sedans and coupes built without them. all coupe and sedans etc had the square one when installed at the factory.

[IMG] This ones are new. Hard to find in Mexico. My brother bought them in 1999 on a swap meet.
