There will be 2 swap meets in Phoenix this weekend. Sat and Sun is one at Peoria sports complex. It is $50 for a swap space and a buck or 2 to get in. Sunday there is a swap meet at Glendale College. $20 a space spectators are free. My friend will be getting a space at Glendale to sell his '40 Olds. If anyone is looking for something different to build, it may be worth a look. I'll have event posters and be handing out flyers for my April 11 show and drags coming up at Speedworld at the Glendale meet on Sunday. There will be nostalgic show, drags, plus exhibitions, model contest, parts swap, vendors and a front motor Top Fuel match race plus an A/FX match race and some other surprises. Last year we did a fire burnout just like the old days and may do another. I'll also have my one of a kind blown 1962 Mickey Thompson HEMI Pontiac engine on display in April. Stop by and say hello. I didn't know about the Peoria swap. Thanks! I plan on going to at least one of these. I'll try to keep an eye out for you. -rob
Also at Peoria on Sunday is the Rockabilly Bash / Car Show. My wife is vending at that show (not the swap) selling some of her crafts, so I'll be around there all day Sunday.
Kerry, What hours is the show running on Sunday? If it is through the day, I may stop by after the Glendale meet is over. Saturday, I am going to the Peoria meet early and then will spend the day at Speedworld Dragstrip announcing. Is anything going on Sat eve on the west side? When is the Central cruise? I'm off on a "barn" (actually a school bus full of old bike parts) find 'til Saturday night but I'll see you guys out an about on Sunday.
I have heard some rumors that Glendale is not happening this month, but no confirmation. Any body got the skinny?
As of last night it is still on www.cruisinarizona.com the Channel 3 weather as of a few minutes ago was calling for a 40% chance of rain,I hope not!
I went to the Glendale meet and the Bumpers Rockabilly show and swap today,Glendale was pretty sp**** maybe the rain earlier scared vendors off,The Bumpers show was interesting lots of HAMB friendly rides there, but the swap was almost non-existant.
Yep Peoria was pathetic on Sat. By noon was mostly empty spaces. Even with the early rain today Glendale was better.
I made it to the Peoria meet Sat morning, it was OK. Then went to Speedworld to announce and ended up getting sick as a dog by mid day. Went home and ended up sleeping off Sunday so I missed Glendale. A friend went and said there were a lot of people there? Other say it was bad. There are 2 at Glendale next month. I am going to miss the first one because it is the same weekend at the March Meet at Bakersfield. Kerry, if you are out there, how did the show end up? How'd you wife do? The Rockabilly Bash/Show turned out really good. My wife did well selling her Rockabilly Girl Hair Flowers, purses and what not so she was happy and I saw some nice cars and talked with a bunch of cool people (Joe from the Hell City Saints, Johnny and a few other of the Pharaoes, etc....) . I got sick as well Steve, been having bad dizzy spells on & off (doctor again today) and they don't know what is wrong, so by 2 pm I was in my wifes truck with my eyes closed waiting for it to p***. So, it was a great show, way better than I expected and I had a great time up until 2pm. I think it would have been even better had it not been Super Bowl Sunday, Raining in the morning and the same weekend as Glendale. I'll post some pics tonight or tomorrow.......
