Wow! Now that's funny Larry. I don't think she had to do with that Nailhead though. That engine looks great! I think you hit the nail on the head Kirk with your opinion of what to change, but to each their own. Mike

It's tough asking an opinion-type question about a street rod viewed through a traditional lens. The more I read and research the further I get away from vehicles that don't have cohesive elements.

All in all, trying not to compare the car to my tastes, I'd say that the build/style, overall,
    lacks restraint.

I hate, and I really do mean HATE the green carbs. I like what you said you would do to it. But I'd have to say it'd end up a different car if I had it. I'd keep the Nailhead but do so much to it you wouldn't see it as the same car.

interior is the only thing I don't like about the car. Needs some changes inside.

I dont get into bashing others rides..it was his money he spent..not mine.

if i ended up with it..that firewall checkerboard and that paint scheme dont go well together..all the billet would have to go..the dash..aint happining...and a few other things too..but i think its been covered already..

i wouldnt make him park it on the next street over

To the owner: Leave it just like it is, change only what you want to, when you want to. Most of these ****ers haven't got a car half as nice as yours, forget all the "help".

The green and cream color combo I like.

However I think it is distracting where it is placed.

Lose the green wheels by painting them body color or black.

Paint the firewall green metalflake with lots of flake.

Lose the color on the carbs.

By doing this I think they eye will focus on the cool green flames and the green will all come from the engine compartment.

A pinstripe would be ok too. Maybe orange or black.

When I see a car like this that is trying to be "retro cool" , but has over 75% of the parts on it direct from a catalog, I feel like the owner didn't even make an effort to build something cool at all. Radial tires with WW just say to me "I'm too afraid to run bias plys" - this kind of car can easily be reproduced in a very short amount of time.

    my .02...blah blah blah

Drop shadows under the flames stand out as a modern touch.

Aside from that it doesn´t need much. Simply the mods you suggested KIRK!.

This car has a ton of good stuff going for it. Great Stance, Tasteful Chop, good engine choice. Things you would change I totally agree with. All these items could be swapped out / repainted or paint revoved (the strombergs) all fixable .

The paint is a little bright for my taste but I wouldn't thumb my nose at the car or walk past it without giving it a quick look if I saw it on the street.

It sits well and the lines seem pretty good. The wood dash is a little upscale for a rod but not done in bad taste as far as I'm concerned.

The seat looks comphy if not a little street roddy. But then again I doubt it would be a deal breaker if I was after an old coupe.

Of course all that is of little value because its all just my opinion and I'm not really anyone of any great importance.

I agree with most on the interior. The dash, column, steering wheel, and shifter have to go.

Outside I like the basic color but I would lose the flames and all the other green. Not crazy about the checkered firewall either.

The front end needs to be dropped a little. I'm not as bothered by the radials as most others on here are, but I think I might consider a set of bias plys for local shows and cruises and keep the radials around for those long, multi-day road trips.

The coupe looks like a quality build that said I would change the dash (to a 35) because I never liked the Rabbit dashes. The car looks like it was built for comfort and most of what people would change can't be seen by the driver going down the road.

I like it. Proud to have it in my garage. Worth more than my garage. I wouldn't have it that color scheme. I'd keep the tilt. I'm somewhat tall and would probably need it to drive it. Bias plies would look better but I'm not as much of a purist as most on here so I'd probably run the radials.

I do like the traditional look over the billet look though. That's why I'm here. I just can't afford nor have the skills for REAL tradition.

It's obvious that most of you guys here are young, close minded about what you're looking at. This car is a prime, period on example, of a mid '70's hot rod. If this were say '75, this car would get "lost " at a rod run ( oh, we didn't have "shows" per say back then). Also, some of you that are bashing the 4 bar better bone up on your "traditional" history as they were using 4 bar and tube axle suspension back in the '50's. That's why they call what we do a hobby. You have the freedom to do what you want, the way you want, as long as it's safe, to suit your own taste. Oh, by the way, that's not a tilt column, it's what we mature individuals a "tummy column". That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

  29. The car looks as if it was built for a baby boomer who wants the look of a hot rod coupe but the drive ability and creature comforts of a modern street rod.

If it was up to me, I would change a few things to make the car look more hot rod then street rod:
    - Install a Limeworks' column
    - Put in a "deuce" like dash
    - Lokar Shifter
    - Radir's with white wall cheater slicks, and bias ply's
    - Paint the carbs black
    - Move the electric fan to the front of the radiator
    - Re-paint the firewall solid white or black
    - Re-paint the flames to look more like the set on the "Limefire" roadster

That is a really nice car. Other than a few things to easily swap out and it would be a more traditional ride.

But like they say "Different Tweaks For Different Freaks"
