I am a 27 year old hot rodder trying to survive another long, cold, and depessing winter in Wisconsin. I have been building cars for about 8 years, my first being my '50 Ford Club Coupe. I just put in my 2 weeks notice today at the body shop that I work at full time. I started my own custom metal fab shop this last summer and it's starting to take off. It could be my only chance so I took it. I just finished up on a customer's original steel, full fendered '34 Ford 5 window coupe. I currently have a '41 Ford coupe, a '37 Ford cabriolet, and my 30 Model A cabriolet in my shop. The '41 I chopped 6 inches in the rear and 4 1/2 in the front. The plans are to make a tail dragger with skirts and plenty of traditional styling. The '37 will be pretty much done back to stock appearance. And last, but not least- my Model A. Last summer I modified a original A frame- 4" kick up in front, and a 12" in the rear. I have a Chevy 6 and manual trans with a banjo rear end set in place. I am planning on channeling the body 6" over the frame. I am still collecting parts and love the time that I get to spend on it.
Welcome from the - eventhough its not a long cold winter but raining and I can´t work on the car - Californian. Sounds like you have a lot of projects. My dad grew up on a farm near Tomahawk and was a hot rodder in Milwaukee after WWII with his 35 Ford and 48 Merc flathead... until he wrecked it because the (mechanical) brakes wouldn´t stop it.
Getting between 2 and 3 feet of snow tonight here in Maryland. Glad for the shop to retreat to! Hang in there, Spring is coming I'm told.......
Welcome from Michigan! Another cold wintery place. Congradulations on going into business! Good luck! Ken
