Hot Rods 1926 Original T-Bucket HOT Rod

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by JWSBigBlock, Feb 5, 2010.

  1. good to see you didnt run off after a couple of knocks. everyone gets a few things wrong when learning new shit.
car looks ok from pics, id proberbly buy it. would take much to get tidy and hamb worthy. good luck.

  2. 12k is not unreasonable in some circles.

in most places 12k will buy you a nicely finished t bucket, just not finished the way you like it and then you spend a ton on wheels, tires, and interior.

Probably couldn't build a safe T (all steel) for 12k. BUT, I sure wouldn't let him "paint and stripe it". It would be in paint shop hell for who knows how long and who's to say if you'd get the same parts back. Offer 10k and go from there. Of course it WILL have ALL needed CURRENT paperwork, tag,title,etc........ to make a legal transaction. (Don't see a tag on it in the pictures) And it you don't know, take someone with you and do a safety inspection... lights, brakes, steering, tires, legal exhaust.

  4. Do you really think you could build that car( steel body, headlights, paint, upholstry, top) for less money??

Offer him 10K and tell him not to worry about repainting or striping it. Once you buy a car from someone get it away from them immediately. You don't know the guy (I'm sure he's fine) and you don't know how long this "repaint" will take him...besides, once that cars clean I bet it's gonna look fine.

  7. Although it's hard to do much of an appriasal long distance I would say that if it starts runs and stops, goes in all the gears and drives down the road, then it's probably well worth $12K, but ya can't get it for less if you don't offer less. It would take a thrifty and savvy builder to do it for less if the above criteria is met. And, it's a steel body to boot. It's got a lot going for it. Good starter hot rod!

Don't let the post nazis run ya off. They'll get over it and move on. Welcome to the HAMB.

    Charlie,

Yes, I agree with the less part. I have been involved in Cars for over 26 years just in the corvette arena. This market is new to me but as I mentioned I'm ready to pick a rod up and get working on it. I just like the old scool look. I went over to see my friend who owns the shop to talk to him about a 32 ford roadster. I then spotted this rod in the far back corner. He wanted 15k with the recent bit of work that was done. The cool thing is that this rod has only had 5 owners and this guy has all of the documentation i.e.titles and misc shit to go with the car. I know the car is a real steel body. We cranked her up and she ran great, had a nice lope to the engine and held a great idel. I would say with a new paint job and stripe job and a good cleaning I could be off an running.

I kinida had a feeli9ng the headlights would be worth something. Don't see many of them.

I do know this guy. He and his partner own a Hot Rod shop and if I were to have him re-pint the beast, the payment would be paid upon completion of the rod in a certain time frame. Business man by trade... always get it in Writting!

I do appreciate all of you feedback as I understand the dudes that sit on their comuter all day and give negitive feed-back need something to do other than work on their cars.

Will see what happens next weekend as we see her all cleaned up and take her out for a spin. Thankj you for your possitive words,

Just have your friend strip the paint off and let it rust. Find an old mailbox for a scoop and screw a bottle opener to the cowl. THEN, it'll be a cool ride!

    Thats the drugs talking there.....

Love the rod. Always liked the buckets. Well, maybe not in the 70's so much. Gotta drive one of those someday.

If the guys does paint and body, perhaps he could remove that Maltese cross for you? ;)

Before anyone can give you a more solid recommendation we would need more extensive photos. @ $12k you won't get hurt but in this market I would say that is the limit to a Tbucket. The engine is a run of the mill 350 with a nice intake package on it. If it had fuelie heads on it would be more likely to offer more.

Still a cool rod no matter how you look at it.

not to hijack the thread or anything, but my pardner Red had those at spokane for sale. i felt like a tool when people asked how much. they'd look at me like i lost my frickin' mind! i told one guy "he wants 2 large" his wife and he go back & forth, then he says "i'll take 'em" holds out 200.00 bucks! i had to nicely explain that i should have said 2000.00 dollars U.S. funds. he seemed insulted. on a final note, they sold to some guy in Spain for 2300.00 plus shipping. a lotta money for damn headlights that don't look that good IMHO.

  17. I know some history on the car because I owned it for a few years an did the paint, engine and upholstery, I also added the E&Js. Later Michael

  19. No problem. Ignore the other dumbasses on here and enjoy yourself. The retards are usually the ones who get to the new guys before the intellegent ones do, just keep coming back and have a blast. PM on its way. Michael
