    Here's some more photos.
For those who haven't been there, Dearborn it very rich in automotive history. You can't drive for more than a mile through Dearborn without seeing something Ford had his hand in.

I love Detroit. Some of the stuff is being redone, but it will never be as good as it once was. Link to SAD Detroit. http://www.forgottendetroit.com/ Todd.

Gordie was the best, along with Ted Linsey, I grew up with Ted Linseys nephews, one who was named after his uncle.
Detroit in the 60's was a magical place ofr a 13 y.o. kid. My Dad took us to Hudsons where they used to have dispalys up on like the sixth floor. One year they had Grand Prix cars up there. I had to sneak a hand under the rope barrier to touch the rear tire of one of them! That city amazed me back then, now it just makes me sad.

Its kinda weird for me, being almost 21 and my dad almost 70 now, he see's detroit as it was whenever we drive around down there. On the way to the junkyard at Livernois and warren by the old coke botteling plant he's talking about how, "this used to be here" and "That used to be there." and all i get to see is a burnt building, a 14 times painted over garage, or a vacant lot with only a concrete pad left of the building. He was there for the riots, he was there for a lot. And just like many people he has some stories to tell. And i was kinda glad to be there with him this fall, going back to his old house for the first time just because we were close enough to it, and that it was exactly how he left it. Oil heater in his second floor bedroom window and all. It didnt look like we were welcome in the neighborhood, he was still happy to see it, as well as the houses of his friends just kinda withstanding time.

  11. the HUDSON BUILDING...AND THE IMPLOSION OF IT..is what brought me to Detriot

..it was the bigestest building in Detriot for many years prior to the now GM headquarters Renasauiance (sp/ck??) ..... in these pics here from the threadit is the largest building in each..it is a fairly small building in this first picture...but was added onto over 28 times over it's lifetime..which made it a very touchy implosion..in the world record books for largest mass square area to ever be imploded.....the folks that came up and told me about xmases there and all the other holidays... was mind blowing...i ran the demolition of it and was the guy from the demo company who was generally on the news for days before and after it..i had folks offering me $100 bills for a good brick from it..we took over a couple hundred tons of bricks and various charties sold them....also did the demo at Henry Ford Greenfeild for the I max...and i also ran the demo of the gutting of GM headquarter at the renasaunce
