In 1966 a '57 Anglia. 36hp flathead 4 and a 3 speed. It was slooooow! Sold and bought a '57 Ford custom 300, 312. It felt fast. Bill
A rodded 38 Ford coupe, monza red, hot 351 4V Clevo, top loader 4 speed, nine inch rear. It has been a Hot Rod since the 60s, re-built a few times, last in the late 70s and is a family heirloom. It still in the family, oddly enough it went backwards to my father. There is a LOT of fond memories in that car, I hope it stays in the family. Doc.
my first car was a 1975 Plymouth Gold Duster. 225 slant six. automatic. factory a/c, snake skin vinyl top, factory pop out wing windows in the back. your goin to like this it had 43,000 original miles on it.
47 Plymouth Special Deluxe 4door sedan, $125, needed brake job, but ran like a top. Took 5 cans of brake fluid to get home from across town in Fayetteville NC.
1972 chevelle malibu. transfered everything to a rust free, california body between my junior and senior year in high school, but i still refer to it as my first. still have it. will not sell it. here's a pic of it this year at the kansas goodguys show. snuck into victory lane towards the end of the day.
A non-HAMB friendly 1970 VW Squareback....built an 1835 motor, dual carbs, etc, slammed to the ground....but I found the light.
Mine was my 1956 ford tudor sedan in high school. While getting that running I drove a 1969 vw bug. Still have the ford.
65 Marlin. I was 12 when I bought it from my dad in 83. He was a car dealer and I just liked it. 2 owner 60K mile car. This is about 1987.
1935 Lafayette Nash 4 door bought it for 10.00 in 1959, run and drove. I drove it on and off for 10 years---sold it to a car museum in Reno for 3000 in 1969.
I had a DKW F12 when i was 14 i have get it from my father i had it on my granfathers farm and drowit on the forest ways it was verry fun that car had 3 cylinder 2 stroke engine on 45 hp /Stefan
I can top all those...1986 Toyota Elegante Minivan!!!, it was a hand me down, but to me it was like a multi-passenger street legal golf cart, Gold with brown striped (for added speed i figure) and the massive 4cyl. right under the driver seat...who needs a hood when you have a cloth seat!!!....Traded it for hamburger... I think I got the better end of the bargain. (I couldnt convince the dude to also throw in the malt though)
I got a 63 Impala SS 283/glide car when I turned 15 in 1985. Bought it from the original owner and it had about 100,000 miles on it. I built a nice little 327 and found a 4 speed for it, but my Dad wouldn't let me swap them in until the 'glide finally gave up the ghost. So everyday when I left school I'd throw it up in neutral, rev that little 283 until the windshield was about to pop out and dump it into low. That poor old 'glide just wouldn't die, kinda like the energizer bunny it just kept going and going and going. The day I drove it out to our shop to pull the motor it was still going. It only had one gear by then, kinda all over the place, but it still pulled....just barely.... Still got it today and wouldn't take a million bucks for it! Deron
My first ride in the mid '70's was a white '68 Camaro with a manual drop top. Only paid 600 for it. I sold it to a freind of mine in'79 and he still has it. We still keep in touch.
My avatar, 33 Chevy tu-door sedan. 3-1 barrels on a homemade manifold, split exhaust manifold, non-juice brakes, had a ball in that old girl!! ~Sololobo~
Mine was either a Fiat 124, square 4 door box with a huge steering wheel, or a wrecked 1975 Dodge Colt that my dad hammered the ass end out enough so the trunk would close. Neither lasted very long. First real car that I had was my 72 Chevelle Malibu 2 door. Primered right front fender, peeling vinyl top, rust out on both rear wheel wells, busted dash from someone stealing the AM radio....drove that car for years!
Wanted to buy a car when I was 14, mom said no junk in the yard,so I ask could I build a garage. So we built a garage,At 15 I picked up this 1968 Javelin SST with money I saved from doing a paper root and birthday`s, Christmas`s for a number of years.Wanted a car sense I was 10. It was the first car I ever sprayed.Painted it in trade school when I was 19.It took me 3 cars to build 1
My first car was a '55 ford sunliner. This was about '64. I traded my HO train layout for it. To this day I wish I had them both.
'67 Dodge Dart GT, 273 V-8, with a torqueflite tranny. Hand me down from Grandma. Yep, it really was a Granny car!
