Yeah I'm running into the same problem my 34 3w...its channeled 6 inches and chopped 3...I didn't like the look of my 34 grill but it was just way to big looking....so I chopped a 32 grill shell down 4 inches to match the grill and it looks alright...tilting it back helped a little..but either way I am fenderless so..damned if you do damned if ya don't..atleast my tunnel ram being higher than the grill looks *****in....the overall look is tuff just because of the rake of the car...I think somebody had already mentioned that but if it was lowered with no rake would definetely look like S***T
Theres an old American Rodder swimsuit issue, with a 5 window turned 3 window and a deuce grill. I like it(and the 2 girls washing it) Lars PS I think it belonged to Axle
Wish I had a picture. A friend ran a chopped deuce shell on his channeled and unchopped 34 5 window for about 30 years starting when he built the car in the late 50's. Now he raised the car and chopped the top and is running a sectioned 34 shell. Times do change.
Is that where the Mother in law rides?..or was it ment to put the back seat driver in so you dont have to hear them?
I think a well exicuted track nose is a better solution for a channeled '34 than a '32 grill shell. Think Superbell or maybe a Niekamp stule nose and belly pan on a '34.
My favorite hot rod. When I hear the words, this it what I envision. Sounds like most of you just haven't experienced this combo right.
Like everyone has said it was popular in the late 50s on a highboy coupe. I never cared for it but it was popular for a while. I know where there is one today built like that back in the 50s. All genuine Ford parts. I always thought it would be cool to get the car and redo it but he thinks everything he owns is made of gold so I never tried. If I paid what he wanted when he first parked it, it would be a deal today.
That's my take on something that was called a "Cab Skiff" and was something of a fad in France in the '20s.
A big no vote here too! It'll ruin a 34! A 33/34 grille is one of the best looking features of a 34. 32 shell doesn't work with the swoopy 33/4 hood, cowl lines. 32 shells only look good on 32's, A's, and T's. Track noses look good on the right car (Pierson coupe). A track nose on the street will give you cooling fits, especially if the opening is as small as the Jim Ewing nose.
I've never thought about that, but it's an intersting thoery and probably gernally holds true--I say generally because there may be some custom application execptions for 50's and 60's vintage stuff.
