Intentionally made to look like a piece of shit and was very successful. Waste of some damn nice looking sheet metal. Hope you're looking to find it so you can save it from further destruction.

Yeah, I'm sure. Obviously it is super performance, look at how it eats up tires. I'm not questioning that. That is the part I was referring to when I said save it from further destruction.

don't you guys ever get tired of the same old bashing? if you don't like what you see, then move on! the dude asked a simple question. if you don't have the answer he's lookin for, than just shut the fuck up!!! its really gettin boring, and very predictable around here! seems everybody wants to be the first one to say "get out the popcorn" or "i just threw up a little in my mouth". c'mon guys, its time for some new material! stop hating everything that aint the way you would build it. not everybody is as perfect or "traditional" as you think you are!

Exactly the point I was trying to make, Bruce.
But I guess you're right, in this case you have to spell it out completely...it is getting real old!

    Right on!

SOME cars deserve a beating...but the bar gets lowered on a monthly basis around here it seems!

If this car has issues it would seem to be only in the cosmetics.
IF it were redone in 50's paint and some minor details it would be getting praise from all sides.

It kinda looks like that Deuce roadster that won the AMBR back in the 50's!
    Can't remember the name....dammit....

Someone post a few of the early AMBR pics if you have them. Lets compare and hopefully burn out the Popcorn cooker!!! LOL :D

Just a waste of good metal !
You have to agree that the "Mailbox" air cleaner is in poor taste , but that whole thing he drives is just not my cup of tea ! That's why I enjoy the HAMB !

I have seen FAR worse than this car get all around praise here. It's not that bad, hell, I kinda like it. The only reason if qualifies as a "rat rod" is because it is low and rusty. There are plenty of cars here that are just as low, or just as rusty, yet maybe not both.

I think it is Kool. Actually the USPS edition hood scoop is pretty original and made me smile. This world would be real freekin boring if were all the same.

With that being said....The Richest Man in The Valley Doesn"t Always Have the Most Money. Think about that one.

You've never heard of "hauling the mail"?

I'd tweak the car a bit, and drive the heck out of it! It would be a hell of a lot better start on a hot rod than what many of 'em are.

  18. Did we ever find out who owns it/where it is?...like the guy asked?...

No I don't think that the question was answered but we all got schooled again about rat rods, I think about 30 percent of the posts on this site are about anti rat rod naming! ugh!

Don`t seem like he is going to find out who owns it.The wheels are too high on the body!! the car sits too low!! It`s a rat rod!!Might be easy to find out who own a vintage hot rod that was built in the 50`s.hmmm don`t this car look like another car in this post. It not no rat rod.Rat rods weren`t around in the 50`s!!!

But there are vehicle construction regulations for people who are too stupid and/or irresponsible to give a damn about their lives and those of others. And then there is common sense - or the lack of it.....

Check out the thread "battle cry, death to the jalopy" , watch how all these guys are sypathetic to the cause of those "dangerous, unsafe death machines" then listen these same guys bash a guy for having the same car 50 years in the future....1953....."DEATH TO THE JALOPY"-------------------2010 "DEATH TO THE RAT ROD"........like I said in the other post , I guess history DOES repeat itself...... you'd think people would learn from their mistakes....

    :D This is kind'A funny ! :D

Reminds me of the Steel vs. Fiberglass threads,.....wonder where you all are on that one? !!!,..... And does the same criteria apply!!!:eek::D:D:D:D:D:D

  24. And 30% are guys telling other guys to "do a search" and 30% are guys with either 32 Fords, 49-50 Mercs or 57 Chevys bitching that everyone elses car isn't "traditional and asking for their threads to be closed. The other 10% are very cool... Now I'm not complaining cause this is an awsome site & it's great to be here but the old hens cackling about every little thing does get old.

If you take away the mailbox and a few other "Ratrod" type decorations, added a coat of paint and it could have been in the little books in the 50's.
For every 1 car that made it in print, there were 100's of others that were built, raced and driven. All were traditional rods, but not all were up to "Todays Traditional" standards.
Everyone seems to forget what hot rodding was, building what you could with what you could find. The goal was to go faster than the guy down the road, and to look good doing it.

  29. So... did the OG poster ever put more info up? Did he find his dream rod?

Have we all been Trolled into arguing about the same ol' same ol'?

PS, I'm in the bunch that thinks it's a rude, ugly rat rod. But, so what? You cannot appreciate the fine cabernet without tasting the Ripple.
